car movement function - 11/07/01 17:29

I'm looking for some kind of car movement function. Are there (out there some kind of templates, or just hints how to make it work?
Can't find anything in forum because search doesn't work.

The Movement.WDL Template includes a CAR MOVEMENT ACTION. You must set one Flag (i mean FLAG4, but I'm not sure).

Thanks. I found the player_drive action but i thought about something more 'sophisticated'. Like those cars in 3D FAHRSCHULE (models with spinning wheels etc).

Oh, that's a lot of work.

There are two possible ways for spinning wheels.

The easy one for Workaholics :
Make a Animationsequqnz for every Spinning frame.

The good one for Brainworker:
Put each Wheel on a vertex of the Car. Each Wheel has got an Action that proof the Settings of the Car, like Speed, rotate, etc.. The Action must give the Wheel the correct position. Thats all

In the AUM 5, i guess, there´s a car action and a small demo level. It´s a simple action, but it is nice

Download all that stuff an you´ll get a car driving action

Hope that helps

Thanks very much. It gives the general impression and I realize that it's not that easy. (BTW it's in the AUM6. ) But I also thought about something that describes car's physic (and not necessary code), e.g. how to include car's weight, length etc.

yes, anywhere out there there's a car physics page. i'm sorry not to know the url...
wasn't it listed on the links page? don't know. but anyway, you should find some physics info with the help of a search engine.
i do personally not want to use too realistic physics, will "try'n'cry". i do prefer that method. recieving better results from it =)

good luck with your code

i've got a good car code, but i'm a bad coder, so i can't give it to you... because it has branches and custom code in like 5 of the templates... if i can round it all togeteher into one code, i'll give it out
