Can't run a Resourced project?

Can't run a Resourced project? - 01/25/03 03:00

I am running the Pro edition of 5.24 and If I take my complete project and Publish it, I can click on the EXE file and run it fine.

If I Resource it instead, when I execute the program, it tells me that it can not find my level.wmb file and can not load the level.

Any ideas?

I know we are all a little on edge here, but Wildcat is not a warez user. He is a long time owner (A4 days?). He is also the only user I've had the privilege of drinking beers with. [Wink]

Ha! I'm glad your not saying I have a warez version! I'd of had to go off on you, just on principle... and we wouldn't want that to happen, of course!

Ok, here is the latest deal:
I did a complete reboot of my system, opened Wed, then my project and resourced it, and the main menu and the first level work fine, but it can not find the third level...

I am using commands like this:
string start_menu = <start_menu.wmb>;
string bedroom_level = <stage_001X.wmb>;
string car_level = <test.wmb>;

level_load(start_menu);
level_load(bedroom_level);
level_load(car_level);

I'm sure I can force the issue with a BIND command, but I shouldn't have to. Can anyone tell me where/how the Pro Resource tool finds the WMB files that it needs?

Thanks Doug.
Gonna be time to tip a couple more back soon, as the GDC is fast approaching...

But being a good little user, I want to stay on subject... any thoughts on why Publish/resource won't find my level? (I did discover that I had an issue with Publish as well)

Not sure, this problem sounds familiar. Are you using WindowsXP? Is this file in a different folder?

Hey Wildcat i was just joking i know you wouldnt have it Drinking beers is fun! Vertex games are cool so anyhow i think that its not that it should be your includes or something try doing a bind in it if that doesnt work then i dunno! my friend had the same problem.

Aw, shucks... People are zelous in the Warez hunt because we are so loyal to Conitec...

I know we're cool, RealDeal. I actually laughed out loud when I read your first post.

As to my problem, I am certain that my includes and my paths are correct, and I *am* using Win XP, although I'm amazed that that could potentially make a difference.

I would have thought that something like this would have been an all or nothing kind of deal.

If all else fails, I'll play with the BIND commands, but I think I'll report this over in the bug hunt as well.

There was an issue with publishing games under WindowsXP but it was reported fixed before 5.20. Maybe this is related.

If you can reproduce this post it with all the facts in the Bug Hunt section.

Thanks Doug.

The version was 5.24. I've not upgraded the code yet to try it with the latest, but if works with the new version, I'd certainly call this case closed.

I'll let you know.
