Blurry Textures Far Away - 09/26/09 15:57

Hi everyone, I just have a real quick question of why the textures in a map always blur when they are far away.

Here is a screen shot.



As you can see, the grass texture looks absolutely horrible, especially when you move around it looks all pixelated and terrible! What is wrong with this? Is there anyway to fix this.

Also did i mention i dont get this in the WED editor 3d view.

mip_shaded = 2;
d3d_mipmapping = 4;
d3d_anisotropy = 2;

this 3 vars will help you solving the problem.
for best settings take a look at the manual and play with the values^^

Tried those, messed around with them, it still looks terrible. Does anyone else have this problem?

hmm, this had to solv your problem, where dit you call this vars?
best way would be bevor loading your level - and get sure you graphics driver allows Acknex to use anisotropy and stuff.

i may be wrong but this really looks like bad mipmapping ...

I am loading these variable before i load the map in function main. And yes im using the latest nvidia drivers, so it should allow me to use anisotropy.

This is what it looks like with those variables

Still far away its pixelated. All the other games i have seen made with 3dgs this never happens in theirs?

umm, i dont know why you really want to fix this, its a good thing in most games, its drawing the texture at a lower resolution based on distance which helps framerate.. i'll have to CODE this into my game but anyways, i'm thinking it really has something to do with the vars Storm_Mortis listed, not sure though and maybe if your using DDS textures

what i meant by asking for your driver ... i don't really know what it's calles in english ... something like "let the app decide" or "generall setting". its un the settungs of the driver - this could cancle the engines settings in some cases.

Yes i know it helps your framerate, but in other engines why does the mip mapping look sooo much better?

Storm, i just looked under my general settings in the nvidia control panel, and it is set to let the application decide.

Nevermind issue fixed with the mip_levels command.
