A8 does not start up

Hi,

whatever script in the samples folder from A8 I run, the enigne always just quits. I use the commercial version. What happens is that when I execute the script, the A8 pop-window opens and goes very very fast up to "hit esc to exit" or some similar message, then just nothing happens anymore. Is there a log I can look into?
In A7 everything just works fine.

start with -diag
it will create an acklog.txt

This is what I got...why does it say trial mode? I have a valid A8 key. And why does it always close the window again as shown in the log?

Maybe you have tried to unlock the A8 trial version with your A7 key?

I found when I try that the engine terminates immediately just as it happened for you.

this was it! thanks a lot. However, does it mean I cannot use WED and GED with the A8 beta?

Can't you use them in the free edition? So why shouldn't you be able to use them?
