no server found - engine bug?

no server found - engine bug? - 01/05/11 22:37

Hello everyone, hope you can help me.

im having a strange problem with my 3dgs when i open a multiplayergame and try to connect as client from a different computer. When i start both (-sv -cl and -cl) applications on my own computer it works but not over the LAN... the opening window always tells me "no server found". I opened all ports on my router and disabled firewalls already.
I also tried to connect over -ip 192.168......
The strange part is that the compiled exe from the Multiplayertutorial of AUM75 works perfectly fine but when i start it with my own editor the problem appears. So i guess it has sth. to do with my engine. What version did they use to compile it(multiplayer4.exe)? maybe sth. changed? maybe i forgot sth.?

I'm currently using the latest version of A7 commercial.
As far as i remember it worked with A6. I made some smaller MP tests back then. Maybe i did sth. wrong in the updateprocess?(??i'm using a ack6c.key for my A7 version is this normal??)

greetings and THX for every reply.

EDIT: just tested my old A6.4 version and it works fine.
I read that the trial version doesn't support
multiplayer, so i guess i did sth wrong in the updateprocess to the fullversion, altough the WED info says "Registered to my name" and shows my User ID and Password?! Does nobody else have that problem? smirk

okay i just uninstalled every 3dgs version i had on my computer then downloaded the newest version, installed it, updated it and copied the ack6c.key into the folder... same problem smirk ...

can someone move this thread to the "ask the developers" or the "bug hunt" part of the forum plz? I really want to get this to work so i can continue with my project.

I'm doing the very same thing and it works just fine for me. I've even had it done over the internet. 3dgs multiplayer might be pretty messed up, but I can confirm for sure this part works. Are you behind a router? Do you have a firewall setup?

hey, nope i disabled all firewalls for the tests. On my router i opened TCP/UDP ports from 2300-2400. I also tried it with an ad-ahoc-network between my laptop and my computer. The final, published exe of the multiplayer-tutorial from aum75 works everytime, but not if i publish it with my own editor. They should use the same ports, should'nt they?

Good to know that it works for you, so its not the engine's fault?!. Maybe my key-file is damaged or i'm just too stupid^^

I guess the aum75 was published with a different engine version?

maybe but this should'nt make a differance... its A7 too and whatever is in the code doesn't matter if it doesnt even connect..
is there another limitation of the trial version??? i could test out if its just a multiplayerproblem or if my gamestudio isnt even updated to a full-version.

upload your project (at least the relevant parts) and we will check for you.
You probably didnt set up your LAN environment properly.

Re: no server found - engine bug? - 01/09/11 13:39

Re: no server found - engine bug? - 01/09/11 17:18

Re: no server found - engine bug? - 01/09/11 17:52

Re: no server found - engine bug? - 01/09/11 18:42

rechner1: ip: 192.168.0.192
smask: 255.255.255.0

rechner2: ip: 192.168.0.175
smask: 255.255.255.0
