Engine Demo?

Engine Demo? - 09/20/07 04:19

I wanted to find out if there was a technology demo available, which shows off the features of A7. I'd really like to get a feel for what the engine is capable of before making a purchase.

Thank You!

There are game demos and the engine demo in the downloads page. (http://www.3dgamestudio.com/download.php)

AFAIK there is no official techdemo

I had a look at the download page but jjguzzardo is right: All demos are A6-games and there is currently no A7 demo available showcasing the new features of A7 (e.g. big chunked terrain, shader, fast scene-managment with big levels, more than 8 dynamic lights).

shouldn't conitec have one made up, or will that depend on if someone wants to make one?

I totally agree with you Frank. It would also be nice to be able to see /test the new skeletal animation with 4 bones per vertex too.

It'd be nice for a lot of things, but we never get it all.

I think Conitec has been asked to develop a Tech Demo for A6 and A7 both, unfortunately they haven't. I wish they would have....

Maybe this thing with Atari will help out in some way?

Thanks for the info. I think having a technology demo would be very helpful for sales and would allow potential customers to see what A7 can do. I know i was pretty excited when I saw the technical demo for Torque 1.5.2. If anyone happens to have an A7 game, or demo of any kind, that shows some of what the engine can do, I would really appreciate it. I'd really like to purchase the professional edition for my next project, however, I want to see what A7 can do before I spend that kind of money.

Thanks Again!

well, back when i bought 3DGS the demo they have was new, and really convinced me, but now things have really changed, and we do need a new one...we should also have a demo that shows off combining 2 animations together and stuff, as well as moving bone positions, while animating (i.e. most games such as Jedi Outcast/Academy, etc)
