Game space and 3dgs - 10/12/06 15:59

I was considering purchasing Game Space, but was wondering how compatable is it with 3dgs? I was having a really hard time with milkshape export to 3dgs, I wanna know if this will give me any problems... for 300$ it better not especially if it's on 3dgs's shop page...

Game Space uses a milkshape plugin in order to export models to 3dgs...
This alone should inform you, that you can not run away from problems you found with milkshape.

Maybe you want to use blender instead of spending lots of $ for Game Space, which has not a single bug fixed since its release 1.6 in December 2004.

I used to be a Gamespace user until I bought Lightwave 3d. Gamespace crashes often and has a terrible animation system. Modelling is very good and fast. Exporting goes through a Milkshape DLL.

If you want to create decent animations then I would recommend to go with Blender or Fragmotion.

yes the gamespace export directly to mdl7 but not in multitexturing, I export by parts and load every part with
the merge option in med for use diferent textures for every part

In gamespace you select the object and export usinng save object as and there is the gamestudio A6 format
Gamespace 1.6

I now use Truespace7 with the game export plug in
You can download a reduced version of gamespace and see how is work.

This is true.I purchased the Software like a fool and now it's useless to me.I don't even bother using the damn thing.I even purchased the so-called plugin from Greenbriar Studio...with nothing but failed to export models(levels of
reasonable sizes) in to MED/WED.
The plugin suppose to be able to export to both MED/WED.Fixes: some issues raised by users, and adds the gameUV plug-in to the Level Exporter toolset.....yeah OK!,I just will not advise anyone to purchase the tool;not till all the bugs and better plugins are available. Many of my friends I know paid $200+ now feel same....don't use it.

Thanks for saving me from another trap, I had my credit card in hand, and remembered 2day that I posted this message... thank you thank you thank you...

Milkshape was great until I couldn't export, I'm thinking mabe I should just used MED, does anyone actually use MED with great sucesses? lol, I don't see a major difference between MED and milkshape.. i kinda felt ripped off, and not being to export just enraged me to the point I quit using it... (I know you can export but it makes all my models crap)

thanks for your comments!

Good, keep your credit card in your pocket
I was so annoyed about GameSpace that I did not even download the free patches
The animation system is horrible, the system crashed every minute or so, they were alwayes blaming someone else for their problems
Forget it

for some reason when I export Milkshape to 3dgamestudios something always gets morphed or warped or something stupid always always happens. It never goes from nice clean animation in to 3dgamestudios with the nice animation. No clue why. I have the commercial edition so bones should be a problem.

When I use gamespace, I don't use Milkshape. I save my object as a .x file and import it into MED. Then I have to merge the verts but thats not difficult. I don't know how it works with animation though. I've never tried it.

Huh, I thought Game Space was actually a Truespace 6 or perhaps even Truespace 7 version a bit stripped down? Anyways, if you're using Truespace, then simply go with 3ds... What export formats does Game Space have anyways?

Cheers
