3DSMAX => FBX => MED == problem! - 10/14/09 22:44

hi there ^^

I found some really useful models on turbosquid.com

But they´re all in max, ma, x or other formats...

Ok.. i downloaded them, opened them with 3DSMAx and exported them as FBX.
But when i import them in MED, there´s no Skin.
No Skin on the model
No Skin in the Skin manager
Nothing set in the Skin Editor

just the mesh...


How can i export the fbx WITH SKIN and import it WITH SKIN again?

go to import and import .X, 3ds and .FBX

I've written that i Imported the FBX..
But it has no Skin.

so you have skins in max, but not in med/wed. correct? are you using a standard shader, or a multi sub object shader, and med can access the skins?

Check your skin is 24bit not 32 with an alpha. Gave me some problems in this respect.

I've now got .FBX exporting with skins, mesh, bones and animations as needed so keep fiddling with it, you will work it out laugh

That model is not made by me.. it´s from turbosquid...
The Skin in 3D Studio Max is 24 Bit

AND.. it´s not that the Skin is not shown.. It´s, that there is just NO SKIN.. My Skin manager in MED is empty!!!!!

So I think this is the correct and I need it but for Cinema 4d only for bone animation.
Vielleicht haste irgendwo ein Häckchen vergessen......

load the skin manually, otherwise, this must be a bug....well possible bug, it could even be system specific.

how to load a skin from a 3ds manually???

the skin......the picture that is plastered to the model. search for it's directory, look in the manual for the med tutorial with the robot, that should help you....otherwise I recommend getting all the basics from 3d tutorials elsewhere...there is even a link in my signature of some tutorials i did in the past.

ok..
I can set a new skin in med.. because there´s no Skin after importing available..

So what helps it to search for that skin-picture???

Schön und gut.. Aber.. Es ist kein Skin im Skin manager.. Was bringt mir also die Picture File?? ich muss alle faces manuell neu setzen über den Skin editor und das "Create 6 side mapping"...

Die farge ist, warum MED den Skin von 3ds und Fbx modellen ned mit importiert.. sondern nur den mesh.
