Well, after a sleepless night, i can finally present the newest monster shots.
Unlike in any ohter "new shots" developers present here, you can actually see changes when you compare those to the old ones.

Not only is every single texture new, and i mean every single texture, but also there is so much more now going on on screen (without a single frame drop i mighjt add) and the new toon shader (courtesy of ello, thanx again) looks by far better than the old one. all in all, i am pretty pleased. a few textures still need work as you will see, but other then that im happy with the way the game turned out.

whats missing? bugfixing and implementing a few neat things. Thanx to hack3er for the cow model btw...

Wow looks simply -stunning- I'll be sure to keep my eye on this.

Yes, the toon shader does look much better. Your other screens didn;t appeal to me but now... wow. Will there be an english version? I hope.

need a publisher, spike, i could try to help, but this thread isn't about a business proposition

about MMM, i think it keeps it's style, i'm not much for the characters, but that's my personal opinion, however, i do like the style of it, i would play a demo because you can't judge a book by it's cover, the gameplay would decide it for me.

thing is, i wont release a demo if the demo is not 100% what the game is: a sensefree slugfest of hilarious fun for every twisted mind there is...

so for that, i have to work hard, so does morten. currently, we are revising the code to get an additinal frame or two per second, because some places in a few stages really slow down due to too many things on screen...

and while this happens, me and my babe are revising the skins, making them look better (and give them a power of 2 since i have shitloads of skins that does not have those)...

and about the publishers thing, send me a PM with details willya?

Did you changed the gameplay? If I remember right the last demo was more or less unplayable. If you upload a demo I can tell you exactly whatīs wrong. As far as I remember the battle system wasnīt very good.

ah... finally a good question^^

the gameplay remained basically the same. kill people or collect items to get score. the battle system was changed, as well as the score system. the last demo had the problem, that you cant attack during walking, thus those basatards ran away. this has of course been changed. not only does every monster now have three different attack sequences (all activated via the CTRL button, to make them look better), every monster has a walk attack, where the monster attacks during walking. this really lightens up the game, since now you get those people even if they run away.

you can now collect bonus items, hidden items and scare people. also, there are more or less victims, that just stand around being hamrless, like cows for example. if you kill those, you loos points, same if you kill someboddy you should usually scare.

scared people or cars or whatever will, after being scared, not only add points to the score, they will flee in a straight forward direction. if they run into anything, they explode, completely sense free but adding even more score if they kill people when they explode...

basically thats it. i will release a demo before christmas however^^

well, in fact yes.

for the first few levels, there are not many things that can harm you. if a scared thing runs into you, you loose some health, as well as if you try to walk into something you were not allowed to. then ARMSTRONG will "guide" you out (takes half of your health though)...

but lateron, humans will fight back if you hit them, and in the last levels, there are only humans who fight back or even worse, cops and army personell who are jsut there to kill you. so its getting pretty heavy lateron.

lucky for you, you are not allone. some sick feallas, mostly wearing makeup and a long leather coat, stand around and well, they kinda like you. so tehy aid you with some energy, points or whatever you are in need (depenind on your health and score. if you have full health and enough score to win the stage, tehy give you somethign special. if you miss one of the two, they will give the missing, if you miss two, they will give you just energy).

also, not only are there many hidden objects to find, liek health, score or stuff, but also every now and then there is a hidden stage. find all of them to unlock a special ending

Wow i really love the style of this game.. Looks really great...Keep up the good work spike.. the style kinda reminds me of Edgar & Ellen / gothic style cartoons...can't wait to play it

in fact, i never heard of monster mash. i kinda liek rampage, and thought in a way smaller scale...

and, while im all for pornography, nudism and exibitionism, no sex in this game. dont ask me why, but i doubt the style woudl fit. yet, i could imagine bringing some more breasts in...

Well its good to see your game is almost complete. I'm a great fan of Cellshading, though i don't like the style here. The textures are too un-cartoony to fit with cellshading (for my taste).
Anyway, looks like lots of fun. Can't wait for the demo

i actually like the style, its about time that a cel-shaded program stopped working in cels (im starting to get tired or games that look like several geometric shapes with the paint fill applied), and used some texture, hooray for changing it up a bit, and i think it looks pretty nice

there Trailer 2 HD. The video is prerendered. Check out the blonde chick There are also drawn images of the blonde chick which are fantastic.

Your game is more beetle juice style. So I guess itīs realy difficult to add sexappeal to it Even if you can turn into a monster in MonsterMadness I think the player victim thingy is upside down in your game. I mean in Monster Mini Mayhem you play the bad guys... So you could maybe add sexappeal to the victims. Last but not least itīs your game. So you must know what you do

i heard of monster madness and i was prety upset when i first read the title on ign to be honest

about the style:

i have chosen the style for very obvious reasons: im a huge fan of toon shading, and while at first i wanted to make it look like your average toon shader, i just realized it does not fit to the style of the characters. as huge burton fan, i wanted to pay tribute to his style, so i did. that basically makes sex appeal impossible, but adds more strange fun. also, it softenes the violnce^^

Monster Mini Mayhem - Update - 11/29/06 04:14

Update 1:
Managed to stabilize the Framerate by reworking some models. No framedrop even on weaker PCs (tested with 1.5ghz 512ram, pixelshader 1.4 afaik) at least not beneath 30 fps, wich is pretty nice. ill probably release the demo in december, nearing christmas.

Update 2:
the first Monster Mini Movie is nearing completion. Created completly with A6, Monster Mini Movies is a compilation of 13 short films starring jack, kevin and lucy. A6 users may download the movie with the demo as A6 EXE, while everyoen else will just get an AVI file or whatever.
The codeis commented and completly described, and free for everyones use. however, everythign else is (obviously not)...

Update 3:
I started talks with several publishers today. lets see what happens^^

cant wait to play it. This is exactly the type of indy game i like (so at least you will have one order! might get you into a better position during the contract negotiations).

though i thought you know monster madness and this should be the indy answer to it. One has to compete with doom3 the other with monster madness. And there can be only a big victory if there is a big enemy

I like the clock, but it does stand out a bit too much and the styles of the clock versus the environment and toon character are not a 100% match.

Perhaps if it would be half it's current size and have a slightly different cellshading drawn on the sprite, would fix it? It does matter quite something, since the clock is visible a lot hehehe.
