Man...that looks downright..AWSOME!

Keep up the great work. Kinda looks like a really short game on such a small island, but hey, what do I know?

Re: A dream island - 05/25/07 08:32

And where is Robinson Crusoe?
Wilson my friend... where are You?

Looks nice
Only 2 things...
- Palm's fronds (leafs) are so sharp at the edges
- Palms growing from sand in unnatural way... add maybe some grass or something...
Keep working... I like this style... so sweat and funny... like a game for kids or another map for Worms

'tis beautiful, i love to see people who take the time to actually add a shadow map.

hmm... only two things from me that haven't been said yet:
-on the first pic, the large rock on the left doesn't seem to create any shadow... or at least not enough...?
-the water texture's a bit repetitive.

Other than that:
awesome! i like the atmosphere...Reminds me of my home in the tropics

Re: A dream island - 05/25/07 16:06

hhhmm...

I dunno, but i think this was more ment as a showcase for the plugin he created, rather then the model itself, dunno if anyone thought of that, cuz i see no reply's about the plugin he created (which looks REALLY usefull, atleast to me )

Yeah, cool, the only flaw i noticed - too repetative water texture. But overally very nice work!

Bake Shadows to 3DGS is easy in Maya.
For example, Baking a light or shadow map in Maya.

Second, to set a multi-texture material for an entity.

OK

Will this work with the PLE too? Too bad that you wouldn't be able to use it commercially then .But hey, awesome tool!

yep, but you could also save memory, and bake the lights directly onto your texture, thus saving shader computing later on...
but then again, this would probably be more efficient on bigger surfaces

blender can do this, and its free.

about the dream island: beautiful style. looks great! the rocks should be polyed-up if you know what i mean.

some nicer looking water wouldn't go a-miss. even if it is a toony-style, the water could be improved.

overall, very well designed. nicely filled-out, varied island that's lovely to look at.

Re: A dream island - 05/31/07 10:20

well i think if anyone wanted to really do it, i think you could use a similar process to get close results with blender for those that were interested in maya.

Re: A dream island - 05/31/07 10:42

close results? there isn't anything wrong with blender's texture-baker. it's easy as pie

Re: A dream island - 06/07/07 14:55

Some MEL commands are not available in the PLE, so MayaTo3DGS does not work with it.

Very nice! I like the vegetation and this cartoon style!

Re: A dream island - 06/07/07 19:41

Great !

That bring the BIG POINT , and why i don't loose time asking 3DGS features and work 3D art !

Lot of 3DGS users are always asking for lot of 3D features and
can't already make such beautifull 3D art even with basic texturing and proper colors tones

Yes, 3DGS people work your art, not your ENGINE ! hahahahhahaaaa

Well let's stop be little crazy

Very good 3D artists skills , keep it up

WOW
Great Work!

Re: A dream island - 06/15/07 17:48

With Maya PLE you can't create textures over 512x512 and everything watermarked or has this changed? Oh I see the converter isn't compatible. To bad.

Re: A dream island - 06/15/07 18:39

how about using modulate2x instead of addsigned? that's way more realistic for shadows...
Posted By: Alex3000

Re: A dream island - 06/23/07 07:33

I use addsigned add a detail map.
