This year i have the challenge to program a personal GS version of the Classical Quake 2. I will be giving you advances of my project.

This is no replacement for Quake 2.

In my opinion you should try making your own game with your own story and setting, instead of trying to recreate a game that you don't have the skill for. Quake 2 was produced through a couple years of effort with many programmers, mappers, and artists. Besides, you won't be respected among other developers if you just rip models from other, better games for your own use.

Redeemer, i only like to programming, i am not modeler designer. I am garage gamer, i only like the challenge of programming. I am fanatic of ID Software and the different versions of Quake. This is the reason because i called "my Quake 2". This a garage version of Quake, jejeje. laugh

And other thing: John Carmack, creator of Quake, gave free C++ code and models of quake for the fan comunity.

Hi Erick,

I think it is a good idea if your goal is to improve your coding skills and if it is a kind of fan project.
Once your code is ready, you can replace your borrowed artwork with unique pieces (sounds, textures, levels and models).

Have fun with your project and don't forget to post your progres. laugh

Slacer, thanks. This is exactly my idea. I like to programm. I would like, when i finishe the code, to get a model designer to create a funny and origninal FPS . For now, i use the excelent models, sounds, and items of Quake 2.

I like Quke 2 and i think that is good idea making you own "little Quake game", I also think about making remake of Quake 2 but do not have time for this frown . I saw you video on youtube, and I liked it, I think it pretty well done, I'd love to be played laugh

I also think its a good idea orienting on an existing game in terms of gameplay elements.
It looks promising, I'd like to see more.
Oh, and maybe add a better feedback that you hit someone - blood or something.

Thanks. As i say , program is my stuff, not design models or make great worlds, i am not graphics artists . Thats is the reason i use other games models , and so on. For now, i am using Lite-C free version for programming my Quake 2.

I dont know, i would like to call it "LATIN QUAKE 2" jejeje.

Thanks for your visit. My challenge is to program all effects possible that looks equivalent to quake 2. For example blood when bullet hit the enemy, when enemy dies and i keep shooting him it goes to pieces of body. I will programm all models :

in this momment, as you see in the video, i am concentrated programming the SOLDIER and ENFORCER enemies.

6-Gladiator
7-Parasite
8-Medic
9-Brain
10-Barracuda
11-Technicia

I calculate if i programm all, you will have a good and funny GS LATIN QUAKE 2 , jejeje.

My idea is to create a game that you have to spend (or waste laugh ) at least 3 or 4 hours to finish, with several levels.
