Using shaders on level geometry

Using shaders on level geometry - 03/22/08 14:35

Hi all,
I have to say that shaders are beyond me, I can not program nor understand them (nor do I really want to).
I have been able to get my way through by applying the free ones from the shaderTest (in A7) such as bloom, working on a view or I can get things to go ok but I can not figure out how to get things running on the blocks/textures.
Basically, I would like a bump map on a texture. I have set d3d_automaterial to 1 and named the material stone_wall (which is the name of the texture).
Now, I believe I need the texture to have 3 files (for the 3 skins), do I label these - stone_wall, stone_wall2 and stone_wall3? And (I'm affraid to say) which is which and do these get added to the WAD (all 3 files or just the actual one?).
If someone would be able to please explain how these files are named and which is which (I would be overly joyed if there were picture examples!)? The manual doesn't go into any detail for someone with no shader knowledge
Thank you,
James

Thanks, that is of help. I guess the texture names aren't out yet (though in the manual it talks of them).
Thanks again!
James
