I have noticed that you use blend maps of different colors to tell how to texture a terrain when using shaders. how can you create these blend maps?

I want to create an image like above, does anyone know a simple way to do that?

With a Paint Programm ??
Paint.Net
Gimp

I see you use the "Mystymood" Blendmap. There is a new Terrain Shader in the "mtlFX.c", easy to use. Add severals Skins to your Terrain, for each material one, where is the alphacannel the Blendmap. Quadraxas also make a Tutorial about that, but i don`t know if it is finished already or Shaders are included.

I know i can make it with paint, but i wondered if there was an easier way than just drawing it. yes it is the "misty mood" sorry i forgot to give credit.

I will have to try the mtlFX.c

There is a program called EarthSculpture. In the MystyMood documentation there is a short tutorial on how to do it.

Good luck.
