Shaders And Shadow Problems - 12/11/04 02:56

using the PS2 shader code derived from the Ultimate Shader Pak, i find that if i walk in between the shadered object casting a shadow and a shadered object receiving a shadow... the shadow disappears or covers all the objects it not supposed to cover...

is this a shader thing... an A6 thing... or a me screwing something up thing?

thx

i guess you cannot walk into shadow volumes yet?

Yes this problem has nothing to do with shaders.. its because the stencil shadow uses a "Z-Pass" method, which works only if the camera isnt in a shadow volume. I assume They will eventually implement a "Z-Fail" method which will work even if the camera is in the shadow volume.

You could say it's an A6 thing, that is just how the shadows work. We don't have access to the stencil buffer, so we can't mess with the shadows a whole lot.

Not Playstation2, Pixel Shaders 2.0 is what he meant.
