Hello...

As a huge Mopar fan I can tell you that if you intend to make a Charger convertible, you'll never find reference material since no Charger of ANY year ever came as a convertible.

Well, OK, 1 was ever built. I found this bit of info...

"Legend has it that a single factory-approved convertible was created for the designer of the 1968 Charger. Beyond that possibility, any drop-top Chargers you might see are custom pieces."

If you want/need reference material, you're going to want to look for a Coronet of the same year that you're making.

I can't tell exactly what year that is, but it looks like a '68 or '69, (like the Dukes Of Hazzard General lee) And those years had Coronet convertibles.

This goes for anyone wanting car reference pictures...
---- Go To Ebay!----

Plenty of ads have a LOT of pictures to work with!

Good Luck, cars are a great way to learn to model!

From what I can see, it's looking pretty good... but the perspective view in MED really doesnt show it well.

Maybe put it in a simple test level and we can see it better \:\)

Keep working at it

Press the "Print" key on your keyboard, open a photo program (can be paint aswell) and hit Ctrl+V (insert as new image).
You can also hold down the Alt-key when pressing Print to only take a screenshot of the window which is active.

For the model: Looks very nice but the screenshot is a bit dark ;\)

Yes, pressing the "Print Screen" makes a copy of the screen (I do this way all the time) and that will copy ...

But to make a slight correcttion, when you open a paint program (or Windows Paint) You want to hit CTRL + V ( CTRL + C copies things.. CTRL + V pastes)

A strange cooincidence happened today, my brother went to look at a couple cars he was offered for free... but he hadnt sen them yet... turns out, one of them is a '68 Plymouth Belvedere \:\)

Just press F6 ingame, this will make a Shot_#.jpg of the current screen into the root of your workfolder (or into the savefolder if you specified one).

I could have a go at making a better texture for it, I'm fairly new at creating textures but I'm willing to give it a go.

Might be fun to play pin the skin on the Charger.

I've downloaded it, I'll have a go at making a skin this weekend as long as I'm not too busy.

Downloaded it as well. Doubt I'll have any quick skins. The model is, well, not very well done. The shape is captured nicely, and there are some good details, but it is all loose segments and parts stick out where they shouldn't. The model is "open". You might want to take it apart and start joining some of the various bits and pieces. Use weld or at least merge.

Shane,

Did a little work on the model for ya. I started from scratch and built a closed mesh for you. I used your mesh to indicate the general shape, but replaced every polygon except those in the door handles and bucket seats. I don't claim that it is perfect, better, or that I am some guru expert, but it is much smaller, and with the 2 exceptions above, is a closed mesh.

Open it up, click on Tools -> Mesh Tester. It will highlight the areas in the mesh that are not closed.

Anyway, gave it a real quick skin and zipped it for you to play with, finish, or delete. Might be too low poly for ya. Maybe you want to do another one that is more detailed, but closed?

Charger2.zip
Cheers!

Alright, I see you have moved on to the next car. I will remove this model and skin.

Later,
