why does it have different parts? is this model split up?
Would you be so kind to let us know how to put it together if this is the case, cause its not looking that bad.

I hope you don't mind, I've uploaded the file to filefront.com, the model and its animations are quite good:

Download Tiger from filefront

nice model indeed but the position change during the jump-attack animation should be done by the movement script and not the ani itself wink

Actually it is quite common to let the model change position via animations. For example in gothic they did the very same thing. I think this comes in handy if you are using motion capture data which wouldnt look too awesome with scripted movement.
By the way i am currently implementing such a system so i can use normal collision detection + mocap data for my projects. (Maybe i'll release that to the public so anyone can use it....)

Anyway i am not quite sure if he made this model himself because i am pretty sure he imported it from somewhere because the axes are flipped and the animation has this position change stuff with bones animation. So it might be smart to check on the copyrights before using it in any project.

I usually stucked to the "keep your model at the zero point" method too, i just saw a nice video about a root motion computer, it actually allows you to use animations where the force is controlled by the animation. It gives a really realistic looking movement ingame, quite impressive.

Check out that video for example, its made with Unity but this shouldn't be the point now. I like how the zombie walk really makes this stop/go movement:

Maybe someone could write such systems for 3dgs, could make many animations look more realistic.

such a script would indeed be great for 3dgs.
What I missed in the demo was her walking up the slope... tongue
