rpg style house - 06/08/06 05:08

here's an rpg style house... the architecture took a long time to make, i dunno if you can tell in the picture but almost the whole thing is rounded off, and there was no csg subtract used.

all that's in the interior is a fire place, so do what you want with it, and i'd recommend changing the textures because they aren't the greatest... it's just to get the idea of what textures should go there.

Hmmm........ I am confused. I cannot get WED to accept the WAD file. I changed the path, deleted it and tried to reinsert it with a new path. No good.
Could you release a file with the textures, so that I can build a new WAD? I know you said they are not great, but they look good to me.
I have not experienced this problem before. I redownloaded the .zip file, with the same result the second time, so I don't think its a corrupt d/l.
Puzzled,

thanks, and yeah i'll see what i can do for a barn. i might need details though, like a typical old red two story barn or like horse stables, or what.

oh and to everyone, it is NOT a model, it's all level geometry

Re: rpg style house - 06/09/06 02:26

just downloaded it, nothing wrong with the .wad file
you hae to go into your wed texture manager.
remove the wad, then add it from the folder you extracted the zip file into

I would re align the thatch texture on the roof as well as move the sprite thatch overhangs so they extend off the top surface of teh roof.

Might want to make a a new texture for the roof thatch from your sprite so they match better. just duplicate it several times and stack them in layers just as if you built the thatch.

(just realigned the texture of the roof above the door side then moved the thatch trim)

Re: rpg style house - 06/09/06 20:32

thanks for uploadin another pic, but yeah i just kinda messed around with the alignment on the thatch because i wanted it to be kinda sloppy, like it was all just thrown up there or whatever, and i did make the sprite from the thatch texture, the engine makes the colors not match up so well though. but oh well like i said before in this post or the showcase one (don't remember) the textures wasn't what i was focused on. just the geometry

Many thanks. I built a new wad, and now have no problem.
Not sure why I had the issue, before.

While I am on this..... I notice that your textures are not powers of 2.
They are multiples of powers of 2, though.
Does a texture of 512 X 384 work OK with most graphic cards?
I thought it was best to use something like 512 X 256 or the like.
If anyone has the difinitive word on this, I would be interested.

Anyway, the house geometry is great, and since that is the main point, congratualations on a job well done.
