Are my money "safe" with FXCM?

Are my money "safe" with FXCM? - 02/10/15 18:44

Considering the thing happened with the CHF couple of weeks ago, it makes me think about the certainty in having money in their accounts. I know it's an odd question and that it's never 100 % safe, but still.

And about the reduced leverages - how much were they before? Since they now are 1:50.

I'm not that skilled in programming that I can programme Zorro to another API, so I dont have much choice in keeping up with FXCM.

At least FXCM balanced the negative accounts without demanding money from their private customers. In their confirmation mail they wrote that this was a one time event, this does not sound like "we kept our promise and we'll keep it in future". Before they balanced the negative accounts they cleared it with those that were positive, although I have a written consent from them that they won't (my audit because of this is still in progress). Take care of this fact or better use only one account at FXCM. You can use Zorro at each broker that supports MT4 - I don't know either if there are restrictions compared to direct access via the API but I will find it out. Actually I can hardly imagine to trade on with FXCM.

One of us has a positive and a negative account with FXCM. They have not been balanced so far, and he has not received yet any notice by FXCM what should happen with his negative account. I'll keep you informed about the outcome. It was only a small negative amount though, about -1500 EUR.

It seems that FXCM gave up their policy of "no additional payments". They erased all related expressions from their website and in their new mail disclaimer they speak of "losses can exceed your capital".
