z5 phantom trades? - 09/27/13 13:02

Code:
[663: Fri 27.09. 09:59]  1.22627
{EUR/CHF::l} Long 32@1.2287 Entry stop
[664: Fri 27.09. 10:59]  1.22595
{EUR/CHF::l} Long 31@1.2274 Entry stop
[665: Fri 27.09. 11:59]  1.22439
Cancelled

Why has z5 entered phantom trades, I was sure Phantom = 0 in my ini.

I can see no reason for phantom in z5.

Also I saw 2 apostrophes in the status bar, is this new functionality to indicate phantom trades?

Manual:

!/\\' Current trades.

! is a trade with locked profit,
/ a winning,
\ a losing, and
' a pending trade.

Ah never seen a pending trade before!

Just starting to test z5.

Its confusing using the {} for phantom and pending.

Yepp. Some things are confusing and not so obviously. (Something like using a $ sign when meaning € ....)

Re: z5 phantom trades? - 09/27/13 13:23

so are the trades above pending or phantom?

Quote:
{AUD/USD:CY:s1234} - Short phantom trade (lowercase s and winged brackets). Phantom trades are simulated, not executed.

(AUD/USD:CY:L) - Long pending trade (round parentheses). Pending trades are not yet opened and thus have no trade number.

Status bar has '' indicating pending, but {} & lowercase indicates phantom?

Then I don't know why.

Re: z5 phantom trades? - 09/27/13 14:33

The {} means a phantom trade and the "Entry stop" a pending trade. So you had pending phantom trades.

Re: z5 phantom trades? - 09/27/13 14:48

This puzzles me, as I have z.ini and z5.ini set for phantom = 0.

Also I have never seen phantom trades listed in the status bar.

Code:
Z5 (oP group) ..
Login FXCM.... at UTC 27.09. 13:02
Demo version
Z.ini: MMax 100  Wkend 7  Verb 14  Patch 3

Loading EUR/CHF prices.. 35580 min

Trade: Z5 EUR/CHF 27.09.2013
[592: Fri 27.09. 13:02]  1.22477
[592: Fri 27.09. 13:59]  1.22477
{EUR/CHF::l} Long 31@1.2274 Entry stop
{EUR/CHF::l} Long 32@1.2287 Entry stop

Phantom flag is not set.

Re: z5 phantom trades? - 10/03/13 09:46

Hi all,

Still confused.

I couldn't understand why I had pending phantom trades considering I had phantom=0 in the z.ini, but I now think it is related to virtual hedging as z5 was operating in mode 2.

Does the virtual hedging mechanism work by placing firstly various phantom positions for a period and then placing net real trades, or does it mean that various real positions are taken first and then phantom trades help adjust the net positions?

In either case I am still confused as to why a grid system would initially place 2 phantom pending trades, remove them and not place any further real or phantom trades since 24-9.

Look in your manual under "Virtual Hedging", there is everything explained. If something is still unclear, just ask here.

Re: z5 phantom trades? - 10/03/13 11:13

Quote:
The performance figures and statistics (Long/Short/Total) are summed up from the net trades only

1) Does this mean that the status bar (info area) when z5 is operating in mode 2 will only show 1 net trade, & net profits? If correct then why did the pending phantom trades appear there?

2) Does the log (message area) only show phantom trades?

3) Is it normal that the strategy has not taken any trades since 24th Sept?

Searching the site:manual.zorro-trader.com Virtual Hedging in google brings me to a page that is incorrect, where reference is still made to the use of the variable Hedging. My understanding is that the variable is now called Hedge.
