Do I need an IB data subscription for trading Z13 ? - 05/28/20 06:56

I have prepared the following setup for Z13:
- Downloaded SPY EOD data from Stooq and converted into SPY.t6 file
- Downloaded all actual SPY-options data from Yahoo JSON and converted into SPYa.t8 file
- Set the Preload flag in Z13.ini to 1

I assumed, the Z13 script would use the SPY.t6 to calculate the volatility filter and use the SPYa.t8 to select the option combo to sell. I wanted to sell the resulting combo manually.

But when I click „trade“ with IB plugin, the script doesn’t not run - the error 053. (attachement)

Will someone advise ? Am I right - I do not need any IB data subscription to trade Z13 manually ? Just Eod SPY data from Stooq and one day SPY-option data from Yahoo ?

You need for sure a subscription to trade anything with IB.

There is Spy options data on Yahoo? Can you post the link?

Data: I do not mean historical SPY options data. But there is a JSON gate for all contract prices from the end of the last trading day - https://query2.finance.yahoo.com/v7/finance/options/spy . With the „?date=“ , one can select any expiration date. The data correspond to the styled html Yahoo page https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/SPY/options?p=SPY .

Subscription: Data subscription is not requested for manual trading with IB. You receive automatically the „delayed“ data and you can manually place orders. I use that for the Z8/Z9 and similar risk premia strategies.

Concerning my problem - the Zorro manual - Z13 : „If you have no market subscription for SPY, set Preload in z.ini and download SPY from another source.“ Which is what I did, providing the .t8 file in the history folder, but Z13 script pulls data from IB plugin and ends with an error 053 :-/.

This is an update with the solution of my issue.

The market data from IB needed to trade Z13 are indeed not as costly as I supposed. There is a 1,50 USD/Mnt for Arca(SPY) feed. For OPRA Options feed another 1,50 USD/Month, applied only by low activity. With these two subscriptions, it is all set for Z13 - live.

I do not need to experiment with the "preload" flag and Yahoo Options data anymore.
