lol, I didnt watch it yet, but one of my friends wa doing parcour the other day, and did a kong over a railing to a 13ft drop... didnt go well. i tried to tell him that a dash vault is the one to use when there is a drop on the otherside, too bad he didnt listen.

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/03/07 00:27

The guys in the video seem to make too risky jumps. Parkour should be trained in very small
steps, so that you are always in control of the situation. It is not about making risky jumps (the risk
is actually low, since the real Parkour-guys know exactly what they can do, and what not)

If someone jumps over a building and break his neck, it is his fault anyhow.

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/03/07 07:28

exactly, i watched another video where one broke his leg, arm and shoulder and than after he was able to walk again he learned it the right way... its named "parcour accident", too, by greg and oli (if i remember right) - a quite interesting video

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/03/07 08:18

ittai. Those are some fatals that happen when yer not careful, though one can never be too careful. The professionals have trained parkour long and know what they are doing. These people on the video clearly arent The Professionals, most likely just started and tried stunts for showcase. Happy hurting.

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/03/07 13:08

boring video... i'm not into parkour, but it seems that most of these guys are idiots trying something for the first day... and as for pain, i've seen things REALLY worse in skatevideos, only serious bail i've noticed is on the minute 2.09

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/03/07 14:52

oh my holy god!!!!!!!!!!!!
ouchhhhhh!!!
I think the most of the have broken eggs.

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/03/07 15:54

well even if you are well trained there is still a risk because your always pushing yourself to do more difficult stuff, until you find your level, like personally my mind wont let me do things that I physically could do, because I havent got a sense of what my skill is.

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/03/07 16:01

Good music... poor acting of stuntmen hahaha. Seriously though, it's pretty clear why they call Parcour an extreme sport now.

I doubt any of those people actually died, but having those pains must have been extreme,

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/03/07 16:13

Actually, you're right, it's even more painful that they managed to get these accidents on tape hehehe... Parcour is nice, but some jumps they did should never have been done by them, skill or no skill... you really don't want to fail some of those jumps.
Posted By: lostclimate

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/03/07 16:14

what I dont understand is why they were doing it so sloppy, parcour requires a lot more focusing and a lot of them, I dont even think were doing parcour, I think they were just trying to look cool, some of them were(you could tell because a couple "did" precisions, but most of them I think were just messing around.

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/03/07 17:52

Agree here with lostclimate. Although the scary thing is not the pain itself, but the injuries

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/03/07 19:19

of course thats the case here, but still, thats a good show what can happen , too.. thats what i was looking for. before i looked those cool parcour videos, showcasing some profs, and afterwards, i thought, hey, search for parcour accidents and there you go...

many of those kids could be lucky if they can still watch their own accidents

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/03/07 19:36

Ouch indeed
I've read through some of the comments on that video and it seems that the person on 2:28 died, pretty sinister if you watch it again and knowing that he died

i have also watched some skating videos. it's insane how easily you can break something when sliding down rails and such things. is this really worth it?

Those are not tough, those are extremely well trained. As you can see in the slow motion, they use their body to absorb the crash, but can still walk away practically "unhurt". (such a fall must hurt )

That one has been on tv, he got chased by police and people say it was a escape attempt that turned into a 'suicide'. I'm pretty sure he made the jump in a hurry and that he didn't practice parcour.

Still I can definitely imagine a Parcour guy trying the exact same jump, get overconfident and not make it.

I do know that this guy didn't survive that fall though,

Last video is insane, i can't imagine myself flying in the sky only with that wingsuite, practically like a bird

it IS worth it You know, when i see a gap i think i might do, i just can't wait to try it, although i'm not very trained. Anyway i clearly understand the danger behind each trick

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/03/07 21:16

Omg, this flightsuit guys are crazy - but we want to see pain videos here, not? ^^

The pain I prefer

Although I don't like the violent dance style in the hard/metalcore scene. But wall of death just rules

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/06/07 21:13

daaamn, that one is horrible
i mean, the trick is not that difficult for pros, but it seems like he had broken everything he could. Really sorry for him

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/06/07 21:21

yeah, i still have that strange feeling in my stomache
Posted By: ventilator

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/06/07 23:12

he is a rubber man. he is ok.
did he really break something or is it "just" a dislocated hip joint? i think you can't really tell... i am glad that we didn't try such things but only used our skateboards to sit on them and roll down mountains.

this must hurt: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0BukAy_dko

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/06/07 23:20

lol i laughed my ass off when they started to scream xD im pretty sure its fake tho. but funny nonetheless.
Posted By: PHeMoX

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/07/07 02:49

It's definitely obviously fake ... because hey where's the blood you'd expect? Still.. it's an AWESOME trick, even if it's done with two midgets or something.

Criss Angel is rather impressive with his shows... walking on water in a swimming pool with everybody close to him able to see all angles and flying in the air on a sunny day (no camera trick or edited movie, probably he hangs on a rope). Definitely one of my favourite illusionists at the moment.

Cheers

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/07/07 05:03

it is amazing to see the stuff he pulls off, I just hate how people will comment stuff like :

FAKE!

eck, its like, yeah, we all get it its fake, but come on its the illusion that you have to admire.
Posted By: ello

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/07/07 07:22

"no blood" is no indicator for fake, if its a magic trick than, why should there be blood??

still, its very heavy stuff.. gonna show it to my wife this evening, i guess she'll be shocked
Posted By: PHeMoX

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/07/07 20:10

The magic ís in the illusion, but not in what's actually happening... I'm biased perhaps, but I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as real magic. (not that we would notice if we saw it btw. but still)

As for people saying Criss Angel does fake stuff, well yeah people shouldn't say 'ow, but it's fake' all the time perhaps or try to 'solve it'.

I agree, however, there are also people who think that Criss can really fly, walk on water and so on. I also think some people don't quite see how something fake can be impressive, it's just a trick after all. I tend to agree a bit with that too, however even the easier tricks are quite difficult to pull off in front of a crowd or outside.

Personally I don't quite understand how people can think any of this could be real, but probably it's just because you can do some realllllly impressive things by using illusions, suggestion tricks and technology.

I've seen a lot of extremely impressive things already, some of which are really mind blowing. You can find a lot of them on youtube or other video sites. Everything from chopping in someone else's arm with a big blade complete with blood and 'wound'... gets 'healed' again by putting a newspaper on it.
People tend to wonder if the lady that got the blade in her arm was in on it or not. If she was in on it then she's a very good actress... same goes for the girl that gets pulled in half here too, she's very convincing making it heavy indeed!

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/07/07 20:25

http://www.mymultiplesclerosis.co.uk/misc/rosesiggins.html
and for the lower body he used a contortionist but it's really well done and astounding at first. i wonder how they can be hold together that well at the beginning.

of course he often uses people who are in on it and i think some of his tricks are made especially for video and edited (no matter what he claims).

It's always a possibility, a few members of his team are ex- Hollywood special effects people, so I'm pretty sure they have the experience and knowledge to do so.

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/08/07 19:03

its very good visible where he floats from one building to another. you see some noises around him where the rest of the scene doesnt have that noise
Posted By: PHeMoX

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/08/07 19:54

I know, but you can't see that on his DVD though ... only on some of the youtube movies...
Posted By: Scorpion

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/08/07 20:10

that noises are not because it was edited, they are there, because of the video-format(nearly the same as if you look at a jpg picture)
EDIT:

Posted By: PHeMoX

Re: pain, anyone?? - 12/08/07 20:36

Yeah, I think it's because of compression too... it would be rather funny if those movies presumably edited by professionals still have clues on them that it's edited like this.
