C-script or lite-C? - 02/16/07 18:58

I am just bought A6 and am going through all the tutorials and am wondering if I should invest alot of time learning C-script, because (from my understanding) lite-C will be the new scripting language soon. Should I bother with learning C-script? Thanks

Hello !

I would begin with some Tutorials to learn the WDL language. It`s not so easy

to learn it. Next I would try it with lite-C it`s a little bit easyer than

normal C or C++ . And for the very beginning you can use some Template Scripts.

I would start with c-script because 99.999% of the tutorials and all of the templates are in either c-script or its predecessor WDL. You're going to get a lot more help a lot faster with it, and c-script isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so anything you learn or create isn't going to be a waste of time. I'd start by downloading the excellent c-script workshop from the downloads page:

English: http://server.conitec.net/down/cscript.zip
Deutsch: http://server.conitec.net/down/cscript_d.zip
Espaņol: http://download.conitec.net/cscript_s.zip

I've been using 3DGS for over seven years, and I have no plans to learn Lite-C anytime soon. It's not that much different, so it isn't like it will be that difficult to pick up on. Also, Lite-C is still in early beta and will not be at release candidate status for many months, and it will be the scripting language or more accurately, an alternate scripting language for A7...not A6. However, it will eventually become the only 3DGS scripting language, however that's years away (A8?).

Finally, here's a page describing steps to convert from c-script to Lite-C: http://www.conitec.net/beta/litec_migration.htm

Okay, I guess I'll start with c-script and switch over in a few months. I guess if I can get a good handle on c-script then lite-c wont pose a problem (hopefully)

Lite-C was already released some weeks ago, so you can download it yourself and look what you like better:

As far as I understood Lite-C can work also with A6
