GameStudio 7 is Trash

What I got for my money: Trash. Two Editors which can nothing do. Simple tasks are not really done. The games look like shit. The Programmers of GameStudio should be shoot down!!!

Its a brashness to want money for such a programm.

you need to be shoot down. Dont even know how to use/program the thing and blame it instead of yourself.

And THERE IS a TRIAL VERSION. If you bought it without trying , go suicide.

he bought an extra version and i guess it was without trying that trial version. he's not worth of commenting.

btw didnt someone teach you to try and know what are you buying? do you go in store and buy some stuff of some brand you never heard of!?! - just an example

Well you should at least have looked through the gallery of games that were made with Gamestudio. And if you're not heavily impressed by that already than you can't be helped. You won't be satisfied by any engine of a similar price segment.

I'm rather new to this but I'm almost daily impressed by something that has been shown here in the forum, and that's mostly work in progress.

You're probably one of those that played Far Cry and didn't like something and went, well I'm going to make a game just like that but better.

Well thanks for the comments I am really happy about!!! - But nothing change the reality and knowledge ... If I wrote this to the developer I guess they do nothing ... but the community can change drawback with poweerfull allowance. The Engine dont support jpg, png, psd only pcx, bmp ... dds (?) what a kind of stuff it is???

Yes I bought the extra version 7 of the Engine of Sybex but the trail version from this source dont be better ... The advertisment offers a product whereby the user without knowhow can create a game: this is a lie!!! - That you have work and use tutorials is already true but I pay for this trash ... And what I shoud do now? To work with the editors is impossible to use the documentation is hopeless ... - I'm a well 3D modeller but in no one editor of this engine you get workflow ...

It's possible to do awesome stuff even with free LiteC. It's all about having the manual & mind open.

I can understand your fustration. What you have to consider is this: what are the alternatives to GameStudio ? If you rationally evaluate what you get for the money, you will have to agree that GameStudio represents the best there is on the market today. Also, there are many very helpful people on this forum who will assist you if you ask them. Ultimately, game programming is hard.

You don't need to use the MED of 3DGamestudio, but can create your models in any other program, as long as the file type is either directly supported by the engine or by MED, which you can use as a blunt import tool to get your models into the mdl file format.

by the way: the sybex version is not the way to go, as it offers more restricted upgrade/update possibilities.

You will not find a single, decent, game engine, at any price, that will spit out a good game without a little bit of work on your part.

All Gamestudio takes is about a month or two to get use to it and then you can go anywhere if you stay motivated. The templates are easy to put together for a basic shoot-em up, lite-c syntax is simple to learn and understand (compared to C++ and other programming languages, but its easy for a newbie to grasp as well).

Don't expect to make something like Far Cry. Perhaps Gamestudio has the power to do that, perhaps not, but even if it does, professional games of that sort took teams of programmers and months, probably years, to develop.

But if you keep up this attitude you have, all I can say is, don't let the door hit ya on the way out.

Hm... even those who hate 3dgs say it is the easiest for the newcomers to learn.

any editor that doesn't have a 'make game' button should definately be free!!!

he is one of the guys who thought he could make Crysis with few simple clicks(and his modelling skills ofc.), but he couldnt, then he pissed off. That's all.

very true Quadraxas.. i must say i started into games with 3DGS. By chance.. we had it on school computers installed.

It was easy for me to enter game dev. with it. Initially i followed tuts and workshops. I did a complete game using templates. (though art side is very bad) still i got hands on the game dev..

now am using the engine for simulation of crowd. i must say i evaluated many engines before recommending 3DGS to my team. 3DGS was the only one who could support 1000 entities in a single camera view without dropping the frame rate to below 30 fps.

Others were running at 3 to 4 fps. some crashed also !

As this thread does not contain any usefull information nor constructive critics,
I'm closing it. @adminDUM, feel free to open another thread with constructive criticism,
but stay away from harsh comments.

And be careful with sentences like "xyz should be shot", I can see
that you live in germany, you don't know how fast the prosecution will
ring at your door...
