Beginners' contest - August 2009 - 08/25/09 07:41

Dear Friends,

It's time for beginners' August 2009 contest. Please go through these steps if you wanna play wink
1) Register at the forum (if you didn't do it already)
2) Download the lite-C workshops and go through them (optional)
3) Download lite-C free version, create a small demo and post a link to it at the forum. This month's contest theme is "create a particle effect", so feel free to create anything that deals with particles, as long as your demo runs by itself in the last version of lite-C free edition.

Suggested readings for this contest:
- The particle examples from AUM 67…86.
- The particle effect sample I've create especially for this contest - get it here
The deadline for this contest is the 25th of September, 2009. It's less work this time, so the winner will get a copy of A7 extra.

If you are an experienced user (you have over 1,000 forum posts or so) please give the beginners the chance to win their copy of A7. As you know, the regular AUM contest has much bigger prizes from now on so you can participate there.

Good luck! Don't forget to post your questions and comments here.

Does that mean that the prize will be better - dependant on the quality of the demos? Or is only extra available?

Re: Beginners' contest - August 2009 - 09/05/09 14:20

You can send as many demos as you want. You can also combine them all into a single demo.
Posted By: Quad

Re: Beginners' contest - August 2009 - 09/05/09 14:25

combining them in a single demo would be better for you imo, you dont get your votes seperated. If you send seperate projects votes will be sperated too.

make it like an effects showcase make a menu, let use choose an effect and load it.

So, I canīt wait anymore^^!

Here is an early version of my demos:

Things you may know:
1. Itīs not perfect, yet!
2. Youīre not allowed to use the models, tgaīs or sounds - and sure : not the code!
3. There is a help with F1 - but youīll see it. - In the fire demo is no help because itīs not needed wink.

A really important thing:

If I win, I will make a Contribution for the fireworks and water sprayer - a Plug-and-Play system laugh - So vote for me!!!

Oh, i nearly forget the download link:

Jea It's a great work. I love it! But I think it's offtopic, if I only say this, and if I don't have any ideas for improvement. The time for commendations is then, when the voting started, I think. Also, don't worry, wait for the voting and you will see, many peoples like your work wink

Re: Beginners' contest - August 2009 - 09/21/09 15:43

Hi!

I think coding particle effects is very difficult. I tried different tutorials and examples, but I couldn't make it work. So I don't want to join this contest, because it's too hard for me. I hope that there will be more contests like these (just easier), because it helps beginners to learn to use lite-C (I couldn't make my particle work, but I learned very much using lite-c), and at the same time gives them a free version of 3D Gamestudio. That’s the best way to get more people to make good games!

So I wish you all very good luck with the contest!

May the best win!
