Installing GStudio7 - key file not recognized? - 02/25/10 12:59

Hi,

seems even old guys can run into problems wink
Today I downloaded the latest GStudio7 trial version and installed it as "update/full" version.
Then I copied my *.key file into the GStudio7 folder, which should unlock the trial version.

But for some reason it does not recognize the *.key file.
(Which worked with a prior A7 version)

What I tried so far (nothing helped):
- Unchecked the box "write protected" for the whole GStudio7 folder
- Checked the "run as administrator" box for every application (GED, SED, WED, MED, acknex.exe, wmp2wmb.exe)

Does anyone have a link to some installation instructions which might solve my problem or can point me at a solution?

Thanks in advance!
Xarthor

PS: I did use the Search function but nothing helpful came up

Hm, normally the problem is the write protection, wich you unchecked already. (check if it is for all subfolders too)

Try to install it on the D: drive (or somewhere else, but not in C:)
keep the setup file in the install folder too.

Thanks for the hint Damocles!

This isn't yet solved since I have to configure the harddisk layout first to get an extra partition.

I will come back to this topic when I can tell if it worked or not.

Did you check if the dummy key file was really overwritten in the gstudio folder or was it just copied to the virtual store.

I had a similiar problem with my Apache HTTP server on Windows 7 when I copied my httpd.conf into the Apache folder. The file was copied into the virtual store folder but the Apache Server didn't recognized this one, but read the old one.

[solved] Installing GStudio7 - key file not recognized? - 03/03/10 13:23

Sometimes I am an old dumb idiot wink

The problem was a very simple one:
- The backup key file was corrupt. I just noticed that I had another backup of it and then I realized that the other one that I tried to use to unlock the GStudio7 installation was 0 KB in file size. Which is totaly wrong wink
Now the key file is recognized.

Thanks for the help guys, and sorry that it was such a stupid mistake!
