Did you create UV maps for the model? A texture as is would cause this to happen. What version do you have (help > about in WED)? First, select the faces of the model you want to texture. If you have 6.40.5, go to edit > create x-sided mapping where x is 2 or 6. 2-sided is quick, but otherwise doesn't give you much flexibility. 6-sided takes longer to work with, but gives a lot more flexibility. If you have a version prior to 6.40.5, access the skin edittor and go to edit > create MD2 mapping.
If this isn't the case, is your model in pure shade or has the ambient_x values been messed with? If ambient_red, ambient_green, and ambient_blue of a material assigned to the model all set to 0, you'll have a model that is all black.

I got Game Studio Pro 6.22. I can't get the beta because I don't qualify for any of the requirements.
Here's what I did. I went to the skins window and imported the skin. Then I clicked Create MD2 Mapping and the selected verticles showed up. I could see the skin on the model in MED.
My other models all show up with textures.
BTW, when is the beta gonna go to retail?

6.40.5 is not a beta release. It's been released to the public since early June (about two months ago). Either way, I don't think using the older version is the problem. Could you post a screenshot so I can look at it and what the problem may be?

I see that you are using an awkward texture size. Textures should always be a power of 2. 448x320 is screwy. Texture sizes must be 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, or 4096 pixels on a side. They can be mixed and matched (that is, you can have rectangles), but the dimensions need to use these numbers. The nearest valid size is 512x256 (applying the logarithmic scale used).

I guess all I can come up with is to download either the older 6.31.4 update or the latest 6.40.5 update. Both are free updates and are not beta releases.
