I bought 3DGS6 Commerical Edition recently and I DIDN'T know that the vehicle driving template is for 3DGS6 Pro Edition only. While searching through this forum, I found out that Conitec has 3DGS5 "downgrade" for 3DGS6 users. I know that there are differences between templates for 3DGS5 and 3DGS6. While looking through the movement script for 3DGS5, I found out that there are different modes of player movement such as player_drive and player_walk. Should I use 3DGS5 for driving games?

This downgrade is not just for your template but
it downgrades you engine as well to that of a lower A5 version.
It would most likely only benefit you if
your targeting older systems that cant run A6 games.

You should have the A5 templates inside A6 that will run
fine. This will have the player drive, player walk, etc.

Id say stick with A6 theres a few examples of driving games in the aums. Magazine link at the bottom of this page. They may be a bit old and need a lil updating to new syntax but ussally arent nothing that difficult.

id just learn c-script, it takes a little effort, but isnt hard to learn at all

well.... chances are if your going to be making any game you or someone on your team is going to need to know c-script at least the basics anyways... esspecially when your working on something like a driving game where there really isnt any templates available.... The old templates had a car script if i remember right but really left alot to be desired in any case.

I found 3DGS A6 additional files included on CD-ROM on the download page. Because I downloaded 3DGS A6 Pro from this website, I had to download the files. I also found Acknex Unlimited website where I found vehicle code. I got the code working in 3DGS A6 after errors and trials. Two problems: the gauges are displayed in wrong places on 800X600 and 1024X768 graphics modes and the rear view mirror isn't displayed.
