I wanted to see how the half-life models looked on the acknex engine, and I know that the MDL is a different type, but I have no idea how to convert it to a 3dgs MDL. I know it can be done; I saw it in the project resurrection game. But how do I do it? I'm puzzled. Just in case, I've got both 3ds Max or Blender, so I can handle it even if it needs these. Thanks in advance.

You can export .MDL to MDL 5\7 with MilkShape. Download the 15 Days Trial Version.

I downloaded milkshape, and tried to import the half-life mdl file using the decompiler. It tells me it was done succesfully, but I see nothing. I'm sure i've got a HL MDL (HL1) and I'm sure the decompiler (not import) was the HL one. I tried both the one at the top of tools, tried decompile for left, right and normal, and Kratisto's decompiler further down the menu. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

When you use decompiler, it decompiles the .MDL file into .SMD files, they are created in the same
directory where your model is, if you don't change the directory. There may appear more then one
.SMD file, then one will be the model and others will be the animation sequences for it.

After decompiling press File->Import->Half-Life SMD and choose your model's file, later if
you need the animations, open your model and press File->Import->Half-Life SMD, then
select animation file that you need, you can import more than one animation into your model.
