Hi I need to know some thing's, What if you made a game and want to sell it in target or best buy ect would you need to contact the frenchise head?? I don't really like to sell to publishers,In the U.S.A what are the proccess on registering your business? like I heard you can go to your county and register you companies name with the county. I also want to know how you would handel taxes. I looked into movie advertising, and found out that it's 70 bucks for a 15 min ad that's if you made the whole thing your self printing your video media on a film strip that would be the price otherwise it would be in 1,000s of bucks.

I just want your thought's or experiences on the game business, and would wounder how would you go abouts contacting like target walmart, ect to get the game in their, instead of selling it to publishers.

Check out this thread for some info on forming a company and registering a "DBA." Happily, it's pretty straightforward.

The best advice I can offer re: taxes is that if you're earning more than a few thousand in a year from your games, consider having a CPA do them for you. I've always found it to be a good investment.

You need to find an organisation in your country that can help you with all that. Although it is straightforward and not very expensive in most Western countries to become incorporated, I know it costs thousands in Japan. Taxes are best handled by an accounting firm. You don't normally approach companies like Walmart directly, that is the job of publishers and distributors.
