If all my textures are applied to surfaces useing the 'flat' flag does A5 still reserve extra memory for them for shadow mapping?

If it does is there any way to specify whether memory for shadow mapping is allocated? I don't want to use any static lights for one of my maps. Do I need to waste valuable video ram for shadow mapping that is not used?

I think memory is only reserved for shaded surfaces. Flat surfaces don't reserve memory cause they don't have a shadow map.
