not sure if its been mentioned before but i use this modeler for work projects and new building plans before and afters and is very basic but complex if you know what you are doing, its not as fancy with bells an everything like 3dsmax but can do as good a job. would be nice if i could do all my modelling and texture work in this then have a plugin to export to WED with textures in place.

Thanks, that looks interesting. It has a clever boolean modeling feature I want to check out.

Thxn for mentioning this program andy_1984 !!
Sketchup looks like a nice, easy and helpfull program to work with but I think it is was originally designed for architactal design so it can be great for building a city or sort like geometric shapes but organic modeling like a humain, I think isn't an option here but it's a nice extra tool to create great models
About the price, it is an acceptionaly price if you compare it with the price you get for 3DS Max but 3DS Max is 10 times better as well

Cheers

sketchUp is a model-only tool, that comes with very rudimentary features, its only bonus lies in the ease of use. but i can get that form wings3d for free.

yeah i bought the software when it was cheap before google took it over, and yes i use it primarely for architecture, great tool for creating buildings and interiors and yes for humans not so good but ive got to a level of using it i can almost pull off anything and i think it comes with a very basic free version

Yeah, I use it for buildings in my architectural work. Have done for about 3 years. Great program for working up interior spaces/ any space really. Once you get used to it, and its block system (key point to learn for 3d modellers using it) its really nice, gets me to a level system rather quickly.

I tend to follow up with Lightwave 3d for poly optimising for games, and any "organic" shapes, like frazzle said.

Only problem is google's splitting it into free and expensive (relatively) versions. The free version has one limitation that will stop it being useful for indie's: namely, it won't export to those formats. Rather annoying - should be a limitation on complexity, so as not to harm those of us working on free projects at the moment Still, as I said, I have a proper copy with work, which keeps me happy, just doesn't allow me to reccomend it as much anymore.

Don
have a great day
