Being able to group objects in layers and turn them on and off would be a great time saver for me.

My scenes are dense, and selecting things can be a pain - if I could for example have all geo in a layer , and ghost it in grey, and have it not be selectable, or group all of my path nodes in a layer, and turn it off - or lights etc.

I try to use grouping for this - maybe there is better workflow I am missing?

EVEN the ability to right click 'lock' something so it is not selectable, then edit > unlock all would help alot

-> right click on group
-> hover over render style
----> disabled: group is locked
----> invisible: group is invisible
----> ignore: group wont be included when you compiler the map

These 3 flags can be combined freely. E.g. when you worked on a levelpart, you can set disable and ignore so that you can see it in the editor, but you cant edit it. When you compile the map, it isnt included because you are only interested in the new group you are working on.

I guess this helps.

I have been using the group hide, ghosting features in wed for a few days now - and it works well.

Here is one thing that I would like that I am having difficulty with. I have a bunch of nodes for my path finding system, all grouped, and now I can ghost them or make them invisible which is good. But if I want to edit them, I go into sub group mode, all other objects disappear and it makes it hard to place them.

Maybe if there was a way to have other items lightly ghosted in sub group mode, as opposed to going away completely - or is there a work around for this?

Now when I want to place my nodes, I am un-grouping them, adjusting, reselecting them all one by one, and then re-grouping.

Yes,
a "xray" feature of all superior groups would be great, indeed (optional). So that when you enable this option all subgroups are visible with a transparency of 30% or so. Or completely visible but shaded as if they were "disabled" and as well locked so that you cant change them.
