Hi All,

I just posted a semi-similar topic about object-arrays, and I(we) can't seem to find a way to create blank objects and classes.... if I search for "object oriented" I get 5 results, none of which show any actual user defined objects.

I'm asking this because our team has the next two weeks free for development, and two of our coders are saying that "We can't create blank objects, we can only use pre-existing objects without the properties needed."

So, are they just whining? Because they claim "unless we have objects, development time will easily double". Is there something not mentioned in both the C-Script tutorial and the Manual about user-defined objects?

Do I need to purchase the professional version for this? I'm just about to buy the commercial team package. Our total software budget is 6,470 USD, so price is not an issue, but speed and efficiency are issues. Also, the two individuals who are writing scripts both prefer to use the integrated development environment, but they're both proficient in C++ and are willing to use it if necessary.

I'm sorry to post so many questions on here, and I am making a legitimate effort to search as much as possible prior to wasting readers' time.

Thank you very much.

-Aaron

You´re correct about this: in C-Script you can´t define your own structs or classes, you have to live with the predefined objects (entities, panels, views ...). So you can use the SDK and program in C++, or - if you don´t need classes - you can use Lite-C, Gamestudios new scripting language (it will replace C-Script gradually in the future), which is almost identical to C.
You can use the SDK with the com version.

Thank you very much for your time.

I'll have them look over Lite-C and then we'll decide where to go from there, I hope we won't have to choose another engine, as I enjoy the community here.

Thanks again,

-Aaron

Update:

They like C-script, both of them have a lot of c background, so this is almost perfect for them. But the lack of classes still upsets them. Even RUBY has classes....

Thanks again for the information.

Let them try the Lite-C free version, as you have structs at least.
Or get into C++ dll programming for 3dGS.
