I am new here, I decided to look into this software after having to deal with the thegamecreators. From what I have seen this software seems amazing and I look forward to learning how to use it.

I am virtually a complete noob at all of this, and primarily worked with fpsc, which is all drag and drop. I am looking to expand my modeling skills and game design skills. Where do you all recommend I start (I have downloaded the manuals and tutorials)

Yea mate avoid using Studio max with this program and you'll be fine :-) Its grand.

Whats your take on Maya with this? I have 6.0 had it for several years?

i don't know much about Maya, but i use blender which is free, and ventilator wrote a perfect exporter that allows you to export your model, texture, and animations straight out of blender into ur game project. www.blender.org

i recommend starting with some AUM projects. check the Acknex User Magazine forum for more details on it, but its a monthly magazine with loads of useful tips and tutorials, especially for beginners. also, as you browse all these forums and someone mentions a feature u didn't know about, be sure to look it up in the manual!

I am pretty good with maya, I was just hoping I could create all of my worlds & models in there and then export out to gamestudio with all textures / bones / dynamic entities intact / hair / other and the using the scripting make the world work animate characters / apply physics / particles / collision detection.

Any chance this is possible?

looks like exporting from third party software is not very reliable. so i wouldnt count on it

There is an exporting plugin for maya out there in the downloadsection of conitec. But I don't know whether it will support converting all maya features (such as bones or materials) to med, but at least you should be able creating the basic model with maya.
