Hi.

I have a game blowing out with "Fatal engine error E1230, insufficient memory for D3D textures".

I have a model with a heaven sphere with a texture 1024 X 1024, which looks, well, heavenly.

I want to be able to use this model on machines that can handle it, and a 512 X 512 model on other machines.

Is D3D_TEXLIMIT a flag, or does it return a value?

Can someone please offer a sample of how this command works. The manual was a little unclear to me.

Thanks!

It automatically resizes any textures to the number you specify. So;

D3D_TEXLIMIT = 256;

added in the main means that all sizes greater than 256 x 256 are shrunk to that size...

Thanks Marty.

I think I've got it.

Apparently it returns the value of how big a texture your card can handle, and then based on that information, you can manually set it as you suggested.

In c-script it actually reduced all the textures used in the game. In Lite-c, I can't quite get it to work... Have you had success?

Hi Dooley,

this thread is 7 years old...you can not even tell which engine he used that time. Please keep an eye on the posting date if you use the search button...
