This "bug" is driving me NUTS! #127053

I don't know if this is so much a "bug" as some kind of software conflict but:

When I open any of my models in MED and try the engine preview, the model loads, but when I press "0" to enable the camera, I get:

Error: E1513
Crash in _tog_mov: _camera+=1

And when I hit the "x" to quit from the engine preview, I get:
Error: E1513
Crash in _exit: (0==key_f4||0!=key_alt)

I've tried re-installing 3DGS 3 times now (I even went so far on the last try as to remove every reference to the program in the registry). I've also ensured that my computer and drivers are up to date. I ran DXDiag and saw no applicable errors there. I ran a virus scan and nothing comes up. I ran a Spyware scan and nothing comes up. I've tried running this with most other "background" programs turned off, to no effect.

Now, I will say that a few days ago I uninstalled ZoneAlarm and installed Avast! antivirus, SpywareTerminator, and Comodo firewall. MED seemed to be working fine after that. Yesterday I did not use MED at all. However, the only thing I did different was run the Avast! antivirus prior to booting windows, and it found one supposed virus in a Java file, and I deleted it. That's the only thing I can think of that I did different. Today I tried an engine preview of a model in MED and the above errors occurred. And when I try to load my level in WED, now it won't load either (due I guess to the models). I've since uninstalled all the above mentioned programs, to no avail... I'm running 3DGS 6.50.6

I will also point out that I copied all my 3DGS models and level files and tried opening them on another computer (that has not had the same antivirus programs installed on it) and my level and models and scripts ALL load and work fine.

If someone can figure out what's going on, I'd be greatly obliged, especially if it means I don't have to re-install my operating system.

Where did you get your copy of 3DGS?

Code:
void main()
{
    cout << "I am MrCode,";
    cout << "hear me roar!";
    system("PAUSE");
}

I bought it from Conitec. I've been a registered, valid user since winter of 2004.

Or maybe someone from Conitec has an idea why their built-in MED script seems to be malfunctioning? I wouldn't think other software could affect the program like that, even after multiple re-installs. Is there any way I can see how/why this is failing and pass that info on to Conitec?

You should really use the edit function on your posts.

It's not very space-saving to bump off of yourself like that.

As for your problem, I'm no Conitec employee, but I do have the same version of Gamestudio and I don't have that problem. It probably is something in your other software.

do you have DirectX 9.0c?

Code:
void main()
{
    cout << "I am MrCode,";
    cout << "hear me roar!";
    system("PAUSE");
}

A) And you should really not reply unless you have something useful to say. The bump was intentional, thus no need for the edit. I bumped because it's frustrating to ask for help and the first and only thing anyone does is cast aspersions on how I got my copy of 3DGS! It's kind of like asking someone with a broken leg to prove they weren't doing something stupid before deciding to take them to the hospital or not. I'm in pain here--my project has come to a screeching halt because my installation of 3DGS is screwed up somehow, and the last thing I need to hear is people accusing me of having pirated software. Guess what? My copy really is 100% legitimate (and I'm happy to prove it, if that's going to be necessary for getting any meaningful help here). Maybe the REAL problem is that this software is more unstable than most other programs I've used (sorry Conitec, but I've had to re-install/fix 3DGS much more than any other program I own, including Windows. 3DGS does NOT play nice with others).

B) Yes, I have DirectX 9c.

So is that the extent of the "help" I'm going to get here? Great. I foresee an entire re-install of my operating system and all my programs and files in my future today. Just f*cking wonderful.

Hi Galen,

Error 1513 means some problem occurred in your script.
quoted from the manual :
Quote:

A crash happened due to bad script code in a certain function, like a division by 0 or a square root of a negative number. Note that such Errors are only caught and indicated in the development engine. In the distributable version they will just crash the program.

Try delete the wdl from WED->Map Properties then run preview again to
isolate the problem.

Hi vlau!

I'm fairly certain this isn't a problem with any of my scripts... When I copied all of my files and tried them on an installation on my other computer, they worked fine.

I'm seeing this also in MED simply when I open any of my models and click on engine preview, then hit "0" to move around, this error pops up; AFAIK, there are no scripts attached to MED other than what Conitec wrote... That's what's making this so baffling.

May be test it in A6.40, A6.5 is a beta version however.
If it still happen, perhaps report the error to Conitec.
