Hi everyone,

I posted some videos on the creation of my storm chasing game there:
http://www.coniserver.net/ubbthreads/sho...8&fpart=all

Now I let you try it. There is no tornadoes in this version, but you can drive around and take pictures of the storm (if the conditions allows it.)

At the start of the game, you see a panel for the city of Bewcity. On this panel you can see many things that are usefull for every chaser to see if a storm is possible (it comes from tephigrams and we all use them in real life).

If the conditions are bad, you have a good day to play outside...
If the conditions are nice, you get some rain
If they are good, you get a storm

Press U to get out of the car and take pictures

WASD to control the car.

ESCAPE to quit

You have to quit and restart the game if you got bad conditions and want some good..

Heres the download link :

Nice.

But the terrain texture is scaled big. YOu should use detail mapping.

The seam from road to green is too hard.

The text on the house is mirrored. Usually you see where the cars drive to the house. Like a sand road or something. Some grass and bushes placing script would be usefull aswell.

Would need to see it in motion. Cant tell very much about a storm without seeing pics in motion.

I mean I totally forgot its about storm when I saw the screenshots. Stuff flying around would help for sure. Like lifes, paperstuff like newspapers, branches... etc.

The storm clouds totally kill the FPS rate. I'd like to see some change going on in the clouds, but I guess the game just isn't in the state yet to have that implemented. You can also see a repetitive pattern, not very lifelike, but heck, it's ok for a start .

Ok... played it. The car physics are fantastic and biggest fun in the game.

The game itself could be fun, but for now I think you tried to make it too realistic what I think is boring.

Endgegner is right, that the clouds kill the frame rate. You can have as beautyful clouds as you want, if killing the fps like that it´s useless.

For me it would be much more fun if the gameplay would have more design. THat means:
-the cloud in the first mission is always positioned in a far distance and I have to reach it before it disappears. The faster I am the better cloud fotos I can get. For the fastest time I even can get lightning fotos.
- I can drive across the whole country, but off the road its getting bumpy and if cops get me I loose money or time or the game ends.
- On the way are specials to get faster there, like natural jumping ramps over obstacles like fences and dustbins.
- Other obstacles could be forests
- On the way I would also have to avoid flying around dust bins, barrels, wood beams and such stuff

And for good fotos I get money to buy better cars, cameras with zoom and girls

Just my oppinion, I hope it helps.

In later missions I have to get a cloud which is far away and flying away, and if I drive into too many obstacles will loose it. And for final missions the player could be chasing hurricanes/tornados.

Thanks for your idea.

I like your "arcade style" gameplay, but a lot of real-life storm chasers will like this game when the season will be done. Doing your own forecast, choosing the place to go, and win a big storm, this, is really nice

That is what i'm trying to do in this game. If anyone can create good looking clouds with high fps, i'd like to see how you do.

This is indeed looking nice and promising
Maybe ask Matt Aufderheide about realistic clouds, just look at Sphere 2.0 but I doubt that are the kind of clouds you need because you're game is about stormy environments

Cheers
