I know commands related to memory have recently changed and there was some debate over what the numbers for which commands mean...

On a 4meg Diamond Stealth card running in D3D mode, the game runs so slowly that it is unplayable.

What command(s) can I use to detect this condition on startup so that I can display my "insufficient hardware" panel?

Thanks!

I know Sammy and Ploing 2 had a similar feature... it would change the resolution at startup according to your hardware.

Maybe asking Surricate Software how they did it?
