I am using the template shooter_project script. My enemy has the aifps01 guard action attatched. He moves and attacks at the same time therefore only playing the attack animation giving a sliding effect.

Also he continues to move forward when colliding with the player so even if the attack animation has a walk cylce in it to eliminate the sliding effect, he still walks while colliding with the player creating a moonwalk like effect.

How do I make it so the enemy will attack, then walk then attack, walk, attack and so on untill he comes into a certain range of the player and then uses attack only untill the fight is over?

did you get your answer? my suggetsion is to try and learn a little about scripting, study the teplate scripts to see how things were done, and if you ever get the old template script that has the shoot, walk, shoot motion, maybe you can update the syntax and get it to work for you now. Good luck.

no answer yet. I find it odd that everyone has enemies that slide a round and continue to walk while colliding with the player. It boggles the mind that everyone finds this acceptable and doesn't care to change it.

I have been trying to work it out with the scripts but no luck so far.

i don't know the answer but you best bet is to read the aum's and the coding tut on the downloads page. oh and most people don't use the templates for there projects, they code there own movement script.

check the forum too, there are excellent codes out there. also try realspawns wdl library, i just used that one myself, it works great!

I can't necessarily agree with you, everyone and myself again (also a member of everyone) that such things are 'acceptable' or should be.

I took a look at this 'problem' a week ago, but maybe, to anyone other than those smart arse Template wiz kids (you know the ones, always rubbing your face in it), or the great Template overlord himself, Darth Doug (Poston?), the A6 Templates can seem more than a little confusing, even after moments (number unspecified) of examination.
So unless those that require this modification are willing to snatch a snotty Template wiz kid then hold it captive, dutifully insult Darth D with petty name-calling tactics, or wait patiently until some dummy gets around to staring at it a little longer, this and some other things (including spam) are it.
