Does anyone know how to create a pond or water pool with moving surface (i.e. ripples). I would like to create a realistic koi pond with fish and water.
it depends how detailed you want your water .. it can range from a transparent passable WMB entity to an ocean shader that runs away with your framerate and doesnt give it back... but the water in the aum as good, if you make your water from a mdl plane then you can do loads of cool stuff with it like mesh deforation for waves and suchlike.
Right click on your water model in WED and under "Properties" "Behavior" "Action" select "fx_water_mirror". You can fine tune the ripple strength with Skill2 and Skill3.
