I'm creating my levels in Maya because it's very much easy to use than WED, I applied textures to walls and so. Now I want to export it with all textures for 3DGS engine, but how this can be done? I searched the forum a solution but only found Maya23DGS tool that doesnt work.
Can I export directly from Maya to WED through a *.map or *.obj exporter? How can I import the level in WED? HOOOW??
Im gonna crazy

its possible to export & convert the models as .MDL format. (you can download it for free)
..
and to save the level as .map .. i think MAYA23DGS is the only PipeLine Plugin.

normaly i am using .X File Exporter and then import it into MED / 3D World Studio Software.. and Do Some LightMapping ;-).. then import to WED. (3D World Studio Also Not Fully Support WED's Map Format)

its easy if you import into MED. as .X / .OBJ

or use any convertors that can convert .mb file to .map ;-)

Thanks !

hm...
normaly i am (maybe WE ;-) ) using WED to create levels.
but i am a Maya Expert too.. so ..i know its easy to create levels in Maya.
i don't know how to save .map files from Maya. (maybe we can write own plugin)
i just see few games are developed in 3DGameStudio without using map as files..
they are using level as .mdl too.

you can get a .X exporter for Maya .and then export it as .x model file..
then open it in MED and save as MDL format..

it can be used as level too. (you need to export with texture.) but i think its not easy to work with MDL file as level model.

maybe there will be a new format / way in the Next Release (A7)..

anyways.i am not sure !

Try to find a Program that can save .map files.. (.map , .qle)
i think there are few programs can save the quake map formats (map, qle, etc)

try to import your maya model(maybe .X) to that program..and then save as .map file..

then you can open it in WED..

try..

finaly the easy method i am using now is... create normal / plain models in the 3DGS WED and import special shapes only from maya / 3dsmax (chair , table, etc, door, tree, etc)

Thanks..

I searched the web and downloaded Qoole map editor, I'll try that and what you said, import .x files into and then export as .map

so, i dont know if maya can export to .x format, maybe i'll need download a plugin or else.

thanks for your tips, keep contact.

Epatata, that's what the obj splitter is for. but only MDL based levels. My levels are entirely made in Maya, I never touch WED at all (AHHHHHH!)

Be sure to read the readme. It's a very powerful tool once you set it up and learn how to use it, but like Maya it is kind of tricky..
