hm...
normaly i am (maybe WE ;-) ) using WED to create levels.
but i am a Maya Expert too.. so ..i know its easy to create levels in Maya.
i don't know how to save .map files from Maya. (maybe we can write own plugin)
i just see few games are developed in 3DGameStudio without using map as files..
they are using level as .mdl too.
you can get a .X exporter for Maya .and then export it as .x model file..
then open it in MED and save as MDL format..
it can be used as level too. (you need to export with texture.) but i think its not easy to work with MDL file as level model.
maybe there will be a new format / way in the Next Release (A7)..
anyways.i am not sure !
Try to find a Program that can save .map files.. (.map , .qle)
i think there are few programs can save the quake map formats (map, qle, etc)
try to import your maya model(maybe .X) to that program..and then save as .map file..
then you can open it in WED..
try..

Thanks..
