This is a problem on your PC, but I need more information to determines which one. Above all, do a virus test. Sudden crashes of a certain program function could be caused by a partial damage of the program file, and this is usually caused by a virus. Also, re-install Gamestudio to fix a possibly damaged installation.

Another possible reason is a wrong setting of your virtual memory, as I suppose you have a very old PC. Open the System Setting and put virtual memory back to its default value, around 1 MB.

After you've done that, please try again and if it crashes again, send the _wed.txt to the support. This text file can be found in your Gamestudio folder after a crash.

I reinstalled A7 again but nothing changed , and i did a virus test but i didnt catch any one, I realized something which is when i set the rendering library to gxl2base32.dll , the pc stands for longer time without any crashing , but it crashes in the end
so it looks like a direct X problem

another thing : my pc is not old at all
pentium(R) 4 cpu 2.40 GHZ
2.39 GHZ 480 MB ram

sorry for that question , I found a wed.txt file in the GS directory,
does it supposed to be empty?? cuz it is
thats all i can tell

thanks for your help

ps: i installed a7 trial on another pc(not old one)like mine, and it gave the same problem

I assumed an old PC from your 32 MB video memory, which indicates the video card was manufactured several years ago.

What is the virtual memory setting on your PC?

The _wed_.txt file is empty when the WED session terminates without problem. In case of a crash it contains a log of the crash circumstances.

672 is a little low by today's standard, but should be ok for running even huge projects in the editor. So that's not the reason for your problem.

Does the problem only occur with WED, but not with MED or when starting the car demo with SED?

Can you describe the exact steps for causing a crash on your PC, starting with an empty project in WED, and the error message that you get? Is the crash reproducible or does it occur random?

Which resident software is running on your PC and which video card are you using?

I didnt have a chance to try sed or med , but now i've known that med has just the same problem with wed , any kind of action like adding a box or a cylender or even a vertex causes a crash , both med and wed crash without error messeges.
FOR sed ,none of the template projects want to run because of an <include> error, i tried to run several demos from acknex unlimited web site yo insure that its not because of a file damage , but the engine crashes if i run any of them , even with the simplest project.
As I told you before , wed crashes when i do any action , even if I started with an empty project, and it crashes too if I load any project like the templates -without running them-.
My video card information

I was setting it to 32 , but now I made it 128 (maximum), hoping for better result , but not
if you want more description:
1-when starting wed:no problems
2-if I press (file>new) :no problems
3-add any primitive or a prefab or a model:crash
thats what often happens , if it didnt crash from the first time I do these actions it happens from the second time and this applies to med to
4-add light: crash
5-hollow block , gsc subtract , scale ,.......etc : crash
5-when openning a pre-made project:crash
SO THE CRASH IS NOT RANDOM
I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU
I am sorry but what do you mean by "Which resident software is running on your PC "

Note: i have found the wed text file , its not empty now its about 2 KB
may i post it right here or send it to the support

So if I understand you right, all programs crash on your PC - WED, MED and also the engine? If it's unrelated to the software I then suspect a hardware defect, like a faulty memory chip. This would also explain why the crash occurs not at once, but as soon as you load an object.

Resident software are programs that run in the background, like antivirus programs, device drivers and so on. If such a software is buggy it can also cause crashes.

Memory faults are hard to determine, but there are memory analysis programs on the internet that might help you. General advices what to do in case of PC crashes can be found on this forum under the "bugs" link.
