I made a model of some hands in maya, and exported it using the exporter on the 3DGS homepage. It worked beautifully, untill I tried to import a gun model. It all looked fine, untill I put it into the engine, then the hands got all messed up. The hands look fine in the model editor, but when they are put into the engine, or I just go to file->engine preview, the skin is shifted a bit. Does anyone know how to fix this?

It must be a certain size? Do you mean in the skin properties tab, or when you go into photoshop? Oh, and if it means anything, the skin image is a pcx.

One last question, why does it look fine in the model editor, but not the engine?

The skin size must be power of 2 like Fear411 said, and its in photshop or other image program you use where you will set the image size. In the properties tab will appear only the size of the skin.

you should have both models the hand and the gun in group mode, select the gun and insert the skin, it will be corrected. the problem is, that hand model doesnt have the gun skin as one of its skins, so when you merge an already skinned model to another model, the skins clash. once you do what i suggested the problem will be fixed.

My Famous Quotes: "Hip hop is like a virus, infecting everyone and everything around it. Every form of media has some way, shape or form, assimilated hip hop into it." It has also mutated into other strains like, trip hop, house, rap, gangster, and conscious forms. Once you are infected with it, its with you for life."

it shouldn't have to be pow(2,n). other sizes are fine but it takes up the equivalent of the next highest pow(2,n)-sized memory slot, so it would be a waste of memory.

that's what i remember reading on this forum a while ago. i could be wrong, but it's an optimization, a recommendation; it's not a requirement.

i can't give any advice though -- blink seems to know what he's on about.

Thanks a bunch.

What do you mean by "insert the skin" after I select the gun model?
