I originally posted this in the getting started forum. I was told that it is best asked in here Quote:
Hi
As you can see by my lil post count there, im new here
So last week i downloaded A7 to mess around with, attempted to foloow some tutorials, but there was always somthing misson or not explained in the tutorials avalible from this site. They are all mainly for old versions and need major updates!
Anyway, that was no bug deal, i attempted to addapt, but for some stupid reson, whenever i rendered anything with A7 using the water or sky textures in standard.wad, it wouldnt render, insted telling me there is no visible blocks on the map.. EXCUSE ME?
With no forum access due to a very poor automated email system that refused one adress for being hotmail and just didnt bother sending to the other 2, i decided to try A6
With A6 i have had much sucess, im quiet enjoying playing around and seeing what i can do. Now ive got to the c-script part. More complicated, and harder to learn. So i have endevored to learn c-script.
Now i read that Lite-C and C-Script ARE NOT the same thing. So when i buy A7, i will have to learn all over again.
I DO NOT WANT TO DO THIS and since from what i can tell A7 is buggy, i would like to purchase a full version of A6, however you site no longer offers it.
So am i going to have to buy it from an old user, or do you still sell it..
Thanks Blitz
Hopefully nobody minds the double post.
Actually maybe someone can clear somthing else up. This forum is the official forum? Or is it just this one section that has direct relation to Conitec?
Thanks in advance Blitz

the latest A7 isn't buggy. well, everything has bugs, but it's no buggier than A6 (or at least not by much). it works flawlessly for me, because i know how to use it. there's a difference between buggy software and deprecated tutorials. your problem is probably deprecated tutorials. download the free version of lite-C and get used to that (it should come with a workshop, or there's one on the download page next to it), then popping into A7 will be no trouble when you're ready for it and a newer (perhaps more stable) version is out. You can say A7 is easy all you like, it maybe. But the reson i dont give it a chance is because it refuses to render animated textures, telling me "there is no visable blocks on the map"
almost all problems people have are their own fault. i hope you've been asking about this in the level-editing forum, with screenshots and more info. too many times people talk about problems they have and don't give enough information regarding it.

A7 is easy and everyone else here is able to use it so you should be too.
actually, the current A7 edition is pretty messed up. i cannot use it and i dont want to. if conitec gets some serious stuff done, il get A7.. in the emantime, i continue working with A6. im here since A4 days, and now i should learn so many things again? no, thank you...
i understand this guy...

Well, I don't think that a bug only appears for you and mysteriously disappears for the thousands of other A7 users. Most people apparently have no problem to understand how to work with A7, but some may. However if you don't understand something, the assumption "it's not me but the software is buggy" normally won't get you much further. If you have problems, just ask for help on the forum. The tutorials were written for absolute beginners, but that does not mean that they are perfect. We're always interested in how to improve the tutorials. So if you found that some important information is hard to understand, missing, wrong or misleading, just inform us, describe your problem precisely and you'll be helped.
