Hi!

------------------------------------------------------
You have now finished your game, finished the beta test, found a publisher or distributor, and are awaiting your game to appear in the stores. But haven't you forgotten something? Don't you have to pay license fees for distributing the engine?

Don't worry. By having legally purchased Gamestudio / A7 you have the right to create as many games or other applications as you want, distribute them, earn money and become rich, without having to bother about royalties or license fees. There is one rule, though: It violates the license conditions to use Gamestudio or lite-C for games that propagate genocide against a certain group, nation, race or religion existing in today's real world.

Additionally, there are some further legal issues to bear in mind.

Maybe you're not working alone at the game, but together with a team. You have the right to make copies of 3D GameStudio for backup purposes, but it is illegal to let other people work with them. If several members of your team are working with 3D GameStudio on the same project, you do not have to buy an extra copy for each member - you can purchase a team edition. For developer groups or school/college classes, team editions are a way to save costs. All members of the team must use the software for the same project or for learning purposes, and the software must not be used for separate projects or outside the team. The GameStudio team edition can be installed on the PC of each team member. It is for developing or learning only - it can not publish a distributable game. For this, an additional normal edition is required.

If you are using textures, sounds, models or other material from the demo levels of the development system, please note that you must use them for GameStudio applications only. It is illegal to use them for any other purpose. It is also illegal to distribute any other part of the development system, or to modify the distributable runtime module in any way.

The right for royalty free distribution does not automatically include the right to use or broadcast GameStudio applications for commercial purposes at public places, in TV shows, and in arcade machines. In such a case please contact the support to find out whether a one time license fee is required or not. For a repeated logo-free broadcast of a Gamestudio application within a TV show series, normally a one time fee of US $ 800 per application, or US $ 2400 for an unlimited number of applications, is required.
---------------------------------------------------------------

That is an excerpt of the manual (Legal stuff)

I have some questions about it...

(I want to send two applications to the A7 contest. They are demos so I do not want any payment for them. -> The demos are Freeware)

1.) Do I have to show the A7 Logo at the start (as I had to using A6)?
2.) Do I have to include a special license (like the long ones in newer games)?

Also of high interest would be which logo has to be used - with the current A7-distribution only the A6-logos can be found in the template-directory...

Auch sehr interessant währe, welches Logo verwendet werden soll.
In der A7-Distribution befinden sich in dem Template-Verzeichnis nur die A6-Logos...

I knew that I'd already seen the answer somewhere!

Yes, we'll include your splash screen in future A7 versions. Displaying a splash screen is not required anymore in A7 because the engine startup screen serves as a splash screen and stays for some seconds (except with the Pro Edition). However maybe some users want to use A7 graphics for making their own splash screens.

you should ask this in the ask conitec forum, as they are the contract partners.

From what I know for A6, you have to show the logo for at leas one second
if you directly or indirectly earn money with the project, so
a free demo to show a certain feature does not need to show the logo.
(editions below Pro)

I am thinking of something like that:

"You my not copy this code....you may not modify or hack the executable..."

Are there any templates?
