Hi!

I've been passively reading on this forum since the A5 times and there often popped up discussions about why this or that feature is Pro only and why not have an edition inbetween Pro and Com. We got to know that you don't want to introduce another edition (what makes sense to me as the feature difference isn't that huge at all)...

But I now have a suggestion which to my mind wasn't made before:
How about a sort of a Pro-Light Edition? You probably now will ask what the heck I mean with that so here I go:
The Pro-Edition also contains an SDK-License as well as a 12 month support ticket. My suggestion now is to offer a "Light" version of the Pro edition which just lacks those two. I went to the online shop and summed it up:
The SDK license costs 99$ and a 12 month support would be 310$. Summed up that's about 410$ ...

I think many of those who would like to have a Pro edition instead of their Coms don't really want the SDK License and don't plan to use your support (as the forums are a great source for help). So why don't you just offer a Pro-Light Edition for 500$? This wouldn't cause the troubles a new edition would on your side but make a great deal especially for the Com-owners who might want to upgrade for 400$ (or even less but still the 400$ would be half of the recent costs)...

This way you also can snap up some customers who recently don't want to upgrade as the price is too high in their opinions what would lead to more $ for you...

Enjoy your meal

I agree something between Commercial and Pro will be more attractive. Maybe something like this:
Extra - 99
Commercial - 199
Enterprise - 499
Pro - 899

Naming wise, Enterprise and Pro should then be reversed I think

Another one of those threads that come by every other 6 months or so, hahaha! I don't think they are going to add another version, they've recently removed a version when I'm not mistaken..

Cheers

Correct me if I am wrong, but pro comes with more than one license, does it not?
I never worry about it, since I do everything alone, but...If this is the case then this "other version" should have "ALL" the pro features minus the extra licenses. If I am wrong about the licensing, please disregard my post.

They have turned the Standard Edition into Lite-C Full - that's what was changed with A7. And as said I'm not asking for another "version" here as featurewise (and thus also the way your edition will be registered at Conitec) nothing changes about Pro. It's just that I think they should offer a version without being forced to also buy a support ticket and the SDK license as you can buy them optionally...

I don't think that a new edition between Commercial and Pro would find many users.

Commercial and Pro don't differ much in features. They mostly differ in the target audience. Pro is, as the name says, for professional users, meaning that they earn an income with Gamestudio. They have other needs and usually require quick and reliable support, which is the main difference between Pro and Commercial (aside from the file packer). A forum is no real substitute for support.

Thanks for the answer!

It was just that I thought the current pricing model isn't flexible enough in the more expensive area as you don't need to buy Pro in order to get support from Conitec. I think there also are many people (especially more the artist kind of person) who don't like to let everyone have access on their models etc. (-> file packer) oder who'd like to get rid of the bones restrictions (-> multiple vertexes per bone). I'd have thought that this group would be somewhat bigger than those who use 3DGS for a living / make money from it - but that's probably something you'll know better...

Well as for me I can say I would've bought such an inbetween version without support as the file packer on its own is something I'd really like to have. Besides the fact that it compresses / protects your files it also adds some kind of professionalism as a packed application is somewhat standard nowadays...

Well nevertheless thanks for your answer again...

Enjoy your meal

I would like to buy what you need, that is, don't change
anything about the current Pro and Comm edition, but you
are allowed to buy Pro features like File Packer, auto-LOD,
seperately, if possible.

I'm not sure but the future Interactive Game Editor, Interactive
Shader Editor can be sold seperately also though I hope not
