Would anyone have any idea on how to make search lights? You know, the kind that are like in concentration camps, or forts, and move around to detect enemies, and crap...

I need a light like that, a light that would reach the far corners of the map, and touch the nearest texture to it... Any ideas?

Hey Alan. This could prpbably be done with a model and a dynamic light attached don't you think? Then you could just use tex_light for the detection. Just a thought.

BTW, should this be in "Advanced Engine Topics"?

Here's how i made it i have the standard

- Make a search light model
- Make the beam of the light as a model and skin
it with bright texture.
- Animate the 2 together
- Place them in wed make the beam model
transparant
- No you have a fullie working search light that
projects on the walls and textures

I tried this quickly and it works
I have the standard so i do it LOL the realspawn way

You could also have the light model TRACE straight ahead and place a light where it hits.
