Hi all.

I´m a 3DGS user, and for some time I´m away of game development due to a serious family problem.

I had my son taken from me by my ex wife, she moved to another Brazilian state with him while I was working.

That would be almost normal, if not the fact that only I took care of the boy till a month ago, when she left the house we lived. I´m dont think she is a bad person, nothing about this, but the only reason she took him away was her immaturity, our marriage was not good since a long time ago, and she dont know how to take care of a child. I cooked, cleaned, took him to everywhere he needed, and she only watched soap operas and slept. She didnt even cook to me and my son.

Last weekend I flied to Brazilia (that is where she is now with him) by surprise, and arriving there I discovered my son had an bicicle accident ( he is only 4 years old - and was alone in the street with a bicicle... ) and hurted his face a lot, he cant eat because of the pain. To complete the ugly situation, she didnt took him to a hospital to a examination. He asked me very strongly to get him back to his home ( my home ), but I cant do it without a judge permission.

I only want the best to the kid. Nothing else.

I took some pictures of his hurted face using a Yashica classy digital camera, but, to my surprise, the photos dont show on my pc. I can see them in the camera display, but when I download them to the PC, they are 0Kb and shows blank.

I need desesperately to get a way of recover this image files on my pc, to print them or record a CD and take them to the Lawyers and Judge.

I ask to the experts in JPG and Digital Cameras to help me, give me a direction of what can I do to recover at least the image of the boy face.

Anyways, I hope the boy gets better soon. Unfortunatly I don't know too much about digital cameras so I can't help you with that.

Do you have software for the camera to transfer the images you made? Maybe the camera encrypts (or so) files for whatever reason and thats why you can't copy directly from the camera to your pc. Well a small chance but who knows.

how is the picture data stored? on a flash memory (mmc, sd)? or do you need to connect the camera directly to your pc?
try some of the numberous "digital camera recovery" tools on the web (search for the term in google).

The camera only installs a driver, and the pictures are retrieved by the windows XP tool. There is no software that came with the camera to download the photos. It can use a memory card, but I only used the internal memory of the camera. I already downloaded photos from this same camera with no problems, using the same driver as I am using now.

First of all, i am very sorry for the situation right now, i can myself imagine this stress... I well, I have been through this in my childchood, almost exactly the same, so I can really feel with you! I wish you ALL the best and if I would be religious, you'd be sure my prayers be with you(but sadly I'm not religious).

Second, I would try to download windows live CD's or better even, try downloading the Ubuntu CD (newest vewrsion must be 7.10 i think), it is a live cd too and try downloading the pictures with Linux, maybe a different Operating System can help, windows goes nuts sometimes. I don't really have anything useful to say about the camera problem, but good luck nevertheless! I hope all works out well for you, it's very important that the boy gets what's best for him!

It may sound cliché but a family with both parents probably would be 'best for him', but perhaps there's no way that you and your wife can work it out..that happens sometimes unfortunately. Anyways, again good luck man,
