Gotto that page :
a BlitzBAsci 3D game : Direct X 7
hero animation are robotic somewhat but great game , great design ,
simple and effective 3D art.

game and bloom test with Blitz3D

3D art basic but effective

work your textures

Click on images , or watch video at bottom page.
blog

Lot of people asking shaders , next gen , but they can't produce such
3D art even if they wanted

Well lot of people should focus on making quality 3D art before asking features
that won't make the game , 3d art for them

If i understand your point (it's not very clear), people should not ask for engine improvements and just try to improve their artwork?

There are some problems with this kind of thinking.

1) The engine development by Conitec (or a third party) and a given user's skill at art are not related.

2) Many people here can indeed create good artwork..are they not allowed to ask for shaders or effects to improve the output?

3) Your example game looks decidedly "out of date" to me, not just because the artwork is cartoony, but that it looks very flat...no normal mapping, etc. Also the models and textures are not remarkable anyway, so I don't see that this would make your point even if it WAS valid.

4) having better rendering effects will not prevent you making good artwork..

5) Conitec's time is not somehow better spent teaching you how to draw and model...

6) Artwork ought to become *less* important, as procedural content becomes more common.

Whell I'm spanish I not defend the creator of that game
In the blog they say that game are finalist of art futura
that if the proffessinal recognition to his art

and for me, I played games in xbox360, Pc , wii ... and to many not have that quality of art. the textures are great

Probably they added more effects over that base
but for me that are a better work of many of other professional games sold in diferent plataform

see the youtube video

I think that TheExperts point is that artists should first focus on the basic graphics before going advanced with shaders and all.

I understand him as ambassador did. And I think he's somehow right. The "procedural" thingy will not prevent you from being an artist to produce a piece of art also.

It's a good and common point TheExpert... well points out E.g. a poser model will never look as natural and original as a custom made 3d character would (don't want to start a poser discussion in here - I had my poser discussions with other 3D Artists... the outcome? Well, letz say: Poseruser hate me for my opinion about it ). So the original artwork; the original art of an artist will always be more appealing to the viewer than the "procedural" created "Art" could by any means.

In my opinion, making games while you are not an artist, is kinda odd... because making games is an art of itself (a real art). So the given user has no other choice than become an artist somehow - or nothing will ever appeal in any way.

Just my two cents
