Well played the demo.
Pretty good game , it's Diablo with classes, lot of items , personalisation.
big levles, bosses.
We can see repetitivness in some levels or parts of level/rooms copied and past, but that's the way on dungeon/level in that game style.
Otherwise, the 3D engine is in my mind simple even if it deos the job well.
- normal/specular mapping on your character , some NPC ,
some ennemies.
-glow for characters, on some textures on levels
-simple textures on floor levels
-levels are some sort of assembly of mesh blocks
- some pretty specular map on some floors in indoor levels
-LOD on some objects (police car destroyed : if already simple, Lod is used in it)
-norml maps seem to be a fixed normal map shader on levels, only on some
parts your normal map is lightened by another fixed light source.
Textures wasn't detailled enought in my mind, i hope it's to have a smaller
demo t odownload (already 1.4 Go)
The design of armors, items, characters do the job to make the game beautifull,
a part from that it runs smooth even on 1280*1024 on my PC.
Well we could have such engine , with fixed normal/specular fixed functions ,
glow.
3DGS perhaps can do it , but it's not some buttons to clik or direct import of specular/normal maps of your models.
But who here could do such beautifull 3D art, animate it, create a balanced
game and all the 2D panels etc ....
Good engine, not incredible , but good and NExt Gen on characters,
But not really Next Gen on levels (no normal map on floors , no terrain with grass managemet, trees manager ,complex water etc ... )
But the game will be a big success :
-Diablo RPG mechanism (lot of fun collecting finding new armors, weapons ,items)
-Minimum Next Gen things on levels , And Next Gen on characters
-Great 3D art on characters, not incredible , but appreciable level design.
-don't know why but attractive for me
